i see plenty of ravens by my house, that lets me kno the hawk is no where around, cuz u no they dont like each other. but @ a certain time the hawk will cum out cuz my homie down the street everytime he fly he get took down. i be tellin him look around an see if u see any ravens b4 he fly...
This past week the hawks are starting to leave from up here and there are probably 20-30 Ravens right around my house.I will start flying very soon, possibly tomorrow.. But be careful ravens will take rollers from the air or of the roof.. I have seen with my own eyes.. I would rather have ravens though instead of falcons and coopers..
Andrew, I feed the ravens daily. yes they will raid nests for wild birds squabs and eggs but I have never heard of them attacking a roller big enough to fly. Have you seen this with your own eyes or are you listening to stories? Thom
I haven't seen in the air but I have seen a raven take a pigeon right off the top of a loft. Pigeon aren't scared of crows right? so ravens act like crows and then quickly strike and just hold the pigeon down and start going nuts.. (eat it)

I may try and feed them to so the hawks/falcons will leave.. Thom what do the ravens do when your birds are out, don't they try and chase them out of the area. LOL couple months ago, my sisters boyfriend was flying his remote control airplane and a flock of ravens started calling more and then a group came and were gonna chase it.. lol
We don't have Raven's here in southwest Georgia, but a couple of years ago, I went out west to Montana with a friend to be his spotter for a field trial, they were planting Chucker in areas to be hunted later in the day, two ravens were working in tandem behind the planter, one would flush the bird and the other would hit em. I saw it happen several times. "Black Imps of Satan" is what the Bird Man called them. It seemed like those things were twice the size of our crows. If they take Chucker I believe they would take a Roller. ---------- "Semper Fi" SD
When I say raven, I mean a bird the size of a crow, there are several birds that qualify as ravens as large as a crow and as small as a black bird. I feed them the size of a crow daily with stale bread, since I'm my own baker, sometimes with fresh bread. I have watched them raid the nests of song birds, Mocking birds, Cardinal,.....They come within twenty feet of my kit box but have never so much as landed close to it, they call to my rollers when they are out but do not try to harm them. I have watched them chase Coopers out of my sky!! Harassing the B.O.P. until they leave, and their call for reinforcement's often is enough to make the cooper's leave. I for myself am very fond of the Raven's (Crow's) and am glad to see them each morning and often wait until they are active befor I fly my birds! Thom
Never seen a Raven take a pigeon but I know they can be very aggressive so I believe that they might try. I've seen a flying Kestrel half ass try to decapitate a Roller that was sitting on the roof. Don't ask me what it was thinking, the roller just kind of ducked it's head and had a WT% look on it's face. For you guys in SoCal that have never seen a Raven. The next time you go to Disneyland, check out the BIG black birds that are on top of Cinderellas Castle, those are Ravens.
i jst got threw flyin like 45 mins ago, the HAWK was on my kit tuff, almost had 2 of my birds, but when the raven came the HAWK got ghost, an the ravens flew close 2 my kit...
I'd say ravens here are more like 3 times the size of the crows but never seen one come even close to any of my pigeons. They sure make alot of different sounds.I like 'em. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

I have had ravens take and kill a roller. I understand what you all are saying about having them around because they displace some of the BOP. I have no need for them (ravens) and in my opinion we have too many. They are crafty and intelligent predators and guilty of destroying nests and eating chicks of other birds, including some song birds and others like sage grouse which are candidates for listing on threatened/endangered list. Make no mistake, ravens are a different species all together from crows. Much bigger and more mischeivious too. As I said on another forum, its a hard choice for me between them and BOP, like choosing between poop and stink.
old Hitchcock movie,,you sure I'll put you in one of those telephone booth that they were being attack in and you tell me you won't be scare ...you be shitting greens..lol.. ---------- Ralph
Nah Black crows I thought they were ravens when i saw that site you put up of the ravens reminded me of them..they were gushing ppl eyes out.eating you alive lol.. ---------- Ralph

Ever seen "Silence of the Lambs"?Now that is one SCARY movie!!Even trying to watch that one with my sweetest, most beautiful girlfreind ever(before I got married to my sweetest most beautiful wife)I had to leave the house. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
"there are several birds that qualify as ravens" Huh?????? a raven is a raven,a crow is a crow. Don't get what you mean.Ravens are very smart. some have learned what the flag on an ice fishing tip up means. They pull up the line with their beak, step on it ,pull up some more and so on until they get the fish to eat.
I used to run into that Jose Quervo alot driving through Mexico to my house in Belize.Best to pull off the road before dark with him in the truck!! ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
LOL!!! Kel, I saw it on tv! I don't ice fish. I went twice in my life. I only went the second time because I figured it can't really be that bad as the 1st time,it is!!!!
What is really scary is to be wade fishing with your stringer of fish nearby, look down and see a snake 3 feet from your ankles, staring at your stringer!
LOL on the birds attacking the phonebooth. Are there any phone booths left in the world?
