Great post, Andrew!

Wow, these birds look great . . . how long do these birds live, anyway? I'm told that I'll have to will my parrot to someone because they live 60 or 70 years and she's only 5 months old -- pigeons don't live that long, do they?

10 to 15 is common for pigeons if they are in the stock loft and kept healthy. And that is true about the Parrot family. Most will outlive their owners, though it also depends on their care. The Maccaws, Cockatoos, and larger birds like the African Greys and such typically live longer than the smaller breeds of hookbill type birds.

Nothing special just make sure to rest them when they need it. I also try not to burn the cock or the hen by breeding them the whole year no stop. Like some do and that aint good for the bird. I rest them for 6 months in a nice size cage were they can fly up and down.

Yes nice sun light to hit them and I also prepare them before breeding them. Give them Grit, fertility pills, and shave the vents. Keep them healty. I foster the eggs sometimes not always.
