Hey guys, I was thinking earlier about the impact these birds have had on my life. I came to conclusion that without my birds I would be as good as dead. Back in 2004 I had a horrible accident and when the ambulance arrived I was clinically dead. I was in comma for four months and it took me about six more to walk which was a miracle in itself. While at home my father would pick me up and carry me down to the loft and I would spend hours and hours watching my birds, and than one day I decided to get up and grab and feel my “foundation cock” which happens to be my favorite bird NBRC 98’ 182. That was the first step I took in a year, and it is my firm belief that without my birds I wouldn’t be walking today.
So what I want to know is “WHAT IMPACT DID YOUR BIRDS HAVE ON YOU????”

Norm,
My birds have made me feel like my life is so much more complete.Since the age of 6 I've always been interested in animals of many sorts,first wanting to be a zoologist then later after dropping out of school,working on farms,hunting,fishing commercially and sporting and to eat and always have had a dog or 3 or 4.Never in my life till the last 3 years or so have I had the time to really be involved with the animal husbandry aspect of the animal world,and now with pigeons I'm able to do that and see the results for years to come as the birds mature,change and breed.Raising and flying pigeons and working in my garden is making me the most happy and content I've ever been.

Norm that's some helluva story ..I don't personally know you but to me your a birdman so that makes you family.I'm glad you made it through that tough time..Amen..
Yea these birds are my life I took the mean street in the South Bronx growing up as a kid at an early age because my pops would catch me up the roof with my birds and beat me back down..and all I was doing at the age of 11 was getting away from the hell of life with my birds up on the roof.the super son had 300 birds up there.so now they are back in my life again and its therapy for me .If I have a bad day a traffic fight or what ever I come straight to my birds for the peace that it gives my soul..I call it no place like home when I'm with my rollers..My wings and when I let them go I go with them..good post brought me memory's...

Norm, great post and a hell of a story for sure. I am glad all is well. These birds are just therapy for me.
