My neighbor has a drop trap with no hanging bars and a hawk went in last year and killed 7. Will a hawk go into a trap with the bars hanging or do they scare it?
---------- Thanks, Andrew C.

Anything that will fit will go inside and kill those birds. I lock it every time after the birds are in.

I know but what if there is an emergency situation and lets say a BOP came near and the birds left.. I would have to leave one open until it came back. Of course I shut the kit box one but I guess just leave the flight pen one open. Yeah I had a friend who had a weasel go in.. >:

You sure it was a hawk that killed 7 birds. I have had hawks get tru my bars twice in over 60 years and they only killed one bird each. 7 birds sounds like a coon or a weasel to me. less the hawk was still in the loft never seen a hawk kill more then it will eat

Kopetsa,So what did you do with the hawk? I know that is a delicate question, but sounds like evidence to me of a problem that fish and game need to do something about. This is not plucking one out of the air, this is like armed robbery. ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

Did the hawk kill the other birds or did they kill themselves? I had a hawk get into a homer loft one time and it only looked like it killed one and ate it but there were a few others that looked like they might have suffered broken necks probabley from being scared with the hawk in the loft. The weasle just killed every bird in the loft when it got in. JohnL
