As I was feeding my stock loft cocks and hens this morning at 5:30 AM, I wanted to handle and compare a couple of cocks and hens, I was thinking of pairing. I couldn't find them....and with a sinking feeliing in the pit of my stomach, I realized that someone has stolen some of stock birds. Some of my comp kit has also been missing. I'll have to take an inventory tonight to see just how bad it is. The ones that I noticed so far are 05 birds out of my A-kit that I bred and flew out for three years and pulled for stock....MY stock! As if it's not tough enough to fly out a bird for three years with hawks and overflys and accidents....and now this. Man that hurts. The SOBs must be roller men because they only cherry-picked and didn't grab everything. I suppose I was a prime target.....been winning my region....gone away on a lot of weekends judging birds and at the convention, etc. Man this sucks.... Cliff

Damn, Cliff that is not good news. Had to be somebody who knew of you and probably was at your home before. Somebody who has grinned in your face.
Your home is not necessarilly on the beaten path.
It will never be the same for you; I know first hand about that sinking feeling.

I am sorry to hear that Cliff. I think it would happen the same way with me. Almost a feeling of disbelief at first, with a slowly rising feeling of nausea I bet.
Terrible. Good luck finding your birds and getting them back.

Sorry to hear that Cliff. It is a terrible thing. However, think in time a month back and picture who was in your backyard. Who was asking questions about certain birds and kits and which are the best ones in the kits and the breeders? You will minimize your suspicion to a hand full of members you count on one hand. Then go visit them unannounced and check out their backyard and lofts as they have to yours. Use the story that you happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by to talk pigeons. The one who resist showing his birds or taking you to his back yard is your man.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the support at a time like this. I am not optimistic about getting them back. Joe Bob Stuka had the same thing happen to him a couple years ago, ad he never saw his birds again...they took his two best cocks...and Clay Hoyle......they just cherry picked Joe Bob...not enough to destroy your program...just enough to hurt while they "help themselves"....but they cleaned Clay out compeltely. That tells me it is definitely a pigeon man....and that he may return for more...maybe even hoping I didn't miss them. They got 3-4 birds from eight kits including my comp kit and my two best birds, a cock and a hen from my 05 breeding season that I had flown in my comp kit three years, and stocked. So I have an American Staffordshire Bulldog on order and survellance equipment coming (in case you are reading this you sorry piece of s#&t!) Cliff

Cliff, Sorry to hear about your bad luck. These birds will be up for sale or they will be kept for stock and people will figure out where these birds came from. The sad part is that even though people will know the birds are stolen it will not stop them from turning a blind eye because the birds are of quality stock.

Cliff,
Tuff break. Some one who steals another man's pigeons have to be real low lives.
What sucks even more is that is normal for us pigeon guys. Where there are pigeon guys, there are pigeon thieves.
Good luck and I hope the birds find their way back some how, Thor

Cliff,
Think back to see who had interest on the birds that are missing. Someone that you have talked to problably more than once. And, chances are, they have been looking just for the birds that were noticed by others when they rolled. Im sure you could put a couple of people that showed much interest in them. One thing is to get hit randomly thru your loft. But when certain birds that you know were stocked & certain birds you know were spinning there butts off. Then, thats not a random theft. They came for exactly what they saw in the air.

Now this is why I have never competed.. This is BS for the Man that has worked for years to build a comp kit and to stock birds for some SOB to steal.......... also when you compete there is no telling who will come to your home poze'in as a ( honest member of a club.)I trust no one around my Rollers unless I have known this Person for a many # of years and if this Person that has been to my home steals from me and I find out , there will be some Hell to pay!!!!!!!!!!So now sence this has came up with Cliffs rollers I WILL NEVER COMPETE! Sorry Cliff for this happening to you.......MaYo P.S I raise Rottweilers when I have pups you can get one.............

Cliff I am so sorry that some SOB had the balls to go to your place and steal your birds. Have you talked to your neibors or anyone in the area that might have seen someone at your place while you were out of town. It has to be someone you know real well and knows your every move. If there is anything I can do please let me know. Steve Form Saxapahaw

Cliff, Its someone you talked to or let handle the birds at that same location they came back and took them, Make a list who you talked to and go from there. Once i got robed when i lived in O.C i had a idea who it was , so i went straight into there backyard and got my birds back, This guy lived a block away. Good Luck Cliff find your birds.

Sorry to hear that for you Cliff. Especially when you open up your home to be one of the hosts for the convention when you guys had it in 2007. I didn't know anyone when I attended that year but for those reading this you would be hard pressed to find any better hospitality than what the NC roller clubs and the flyers that opened up their lofts to host the convention that year did to entertain attendees. Leadership from people like Benny Hargraves that I believe really wanted to give guests some southern hospitality made sure along with Cliff, Jay, etc. had a great time. Ask anyone that attended they really rolled out the red carpet for everyone which is why its also hard to believe someone would do this. My guess like the other posts it has to be someone that knows you and your birds well, and which ones to get. My guess is its probably someone local or at least in your state. The only other possibility would be if you had someone feeding for you that mistakingly let birds out and didn't let them back in and something caught them. I can't imagine someone driving from out of state to steal birds. If you have the band numbers or a certain prefix or customized bands that could be recognized I would encourage you to put them on here for people to be watching for. These kinds of people are the exception not the rule in this hobby. I've never been around any group of such diverse people that get along so well as roller fanciers, it's just unfortunate there's always one that screws it up for the rest of us.
