i had chickens..old english game bantams for like 5 years since i was 4 or 5 then i had parrots,kois,goldfishes,bettas,turtles and now birmingham rollers.. i think imma stick with this one lol

In the past, I've had racing homers, and about every breed of pigeon there is. I got involved with rollers when I was 3 years old because two of my older siblings got some. I'm located in Snowflake, AZ.
My brothers & I used to trap commies for the local saw mills and pig farms, settle them and sell them to bird dog trainers. I have had rollers off & on now for 37 years and plan on staying with it this time. My birds are of the Richards strain out of Safford, AZ. I've only met a few roller folks as I live in an extremely rural area. Still just a handful of us up here in our area.
I've split my loft up between me & my two sons 12 & 14 so they can get hooked on the birds as well. Hopefully we'll have 3-4 kits flying soon.

Commies is a term given to feral pigeons like the ones that crap on the city statues!

Commies is short for Communist which in the US in the past,lots of people didn't want Communist ideals in their midst,so the same with feral pigeons,people don't want 'em around so they call'em commies.We still call'em feral pigeons here in Canada.

I never heard that description before.
I always figured the term 'commie' pigeon was slang for 'common' pigeon.
