Marvin I would say no you can not judge anyones line of birds based on one bird let alone flying it for only 3 months. You have to start evaluating the bird or birds from day one but no finale conclution can truly be made on a line or family of birds in just three months.

Good luck and be patient

Hey Marvin, 1 bird is not enough to make a determination. I would say 20 birds properly fed and managed would be a better number to judge by.

Marvin - I am glad you brought this up as I was currently writing something for another post on the same matter but I will just state it here. You cannot judge someone’s birds on one or twenty and you know why? What if the twenty are all off of one or two pair? Does that sampling suggest the totality of that individuals strain? More than likely it does not. You can say that the one or two or whatever that I had did thus and forth only. Some guys that want to judge a family of pigeons is trying to push an agenda. For example someone made a statement about Monty and Biker birds that I feel is totally unjust. First, I do not have birds from either individual but I am not incompetent and know that in order to do a true evaluation you have to tell me sampling size, method of evaluation and a lot of other things (How many individuals flew this family, how and by what standard are you judging them etc). Most give you bias opinions based on the same. They come up with all kinds of illogical BS (Stands for Bias)! One pigeon means nothing and every strain produces culls!

Marvin..I have aprox. 9 roller familys in my backyard..I have a big backyard..and keep the breeders in individual breeding pens..fly the birds by family. I like to see if an old old family will do what it was intended to do..from what I read, have read, and am told by others. Believe me, it also creates patience. I have been at it with some famlies for 2-5 years. I breed for performance and just to get a good squeaker..sometimes you have to wait another 12-18 months for it itself to mature..than perhaps still not a good spinner. So...one bird..nope...20 birds..nope..it takes time..time time..various methods...feed, climate..etc etc...Sure is fun..it is called the hobby..then in the end..perhaps my management methods are different than that mans..and will not get the results he did...enjoy..Bruce
