I was feeding my homers when I heard a commotion at the back of me. A sparrow flew out and this hawk came out. It was so bold that I was able to take a picture of it while I was 10 feet of it. I could probably have gone closer were not the crow sound that scared it. I then went somewhere and within 1 mile radius of my house I saw 2 hawks perched on a different light poles. When I came back an hour later I saw a big cooper hawk perched in front our house. I then got worried and went to my loft and sure enough another cooper hawk was perched 5 feet of my loft. It was waiting. So today I saw 5 hawks at my place and I had planned to release my birds today. Thank God I saw them else my bird will be a sitting duck again.

Thanks! LOL! My resident hawks are so used to human now that they feel like a domesticated animal. I basically just approach them and they just look at me like I am nothing. I even tried shouting one time and waiving a stick and this hawk thought I was nuts! It just took off and tries to get mourning doves.

Flipmode,

Oh crap! My hawks does those, too. But they like to perch most of the time on a fence besides my loft waiting like person waiting to be serve on a restaurant. Sometimes at early evening I can mistake them to be my homers. LOL! One time my brother's girlfriend said to me early evening, "Nice pigeon!". And when I looked I shouted "That ain't my pigeon. That is a hawk!"

Whew, I was scared to click on this thread! Thought for sure, that I was gonna see a picture of my mother-in-law! LOL

I am seeing hawks everywhere I go in my area. Its gonna be a bad winter for flying I'm afraid. After the state fly this weekend, I'm gonna lock my A-team down and a few select ones from the B.

Gonna try to get the rest of them a little farther along before shut them down.

I'm not feeding the sharks all winter!

Woah, that is crazy. When I used to race, I had one incident with a hawk, damn thing made me jump from being startled. But I had racers so it had no chance of catching. I've moved since and will be starting a roller kit so I'm crossing my finger. Don't know what the BOP population is around my area, but I don't think it would be different than anyone else in So Cal.
