Hello, I checked your profile on Tonys site and you have no name, no information on you or your roller hobby. I would first suggest to tell us about your self. Nobidy wants to have people come to see their birds fly they don't know. The NCRC has a roller show and auction and a BQ and auction where you can meet local Sacramneto guys and buy some birds. Some guys give bird for free if they know you will take care of them and you have the set up to fly kit birds. Tony has some good birds for sale. They would be a great start and just as good as any here in Sac area. Remeber it takes $600 or $800 in food and care for raising these rollers each year. Some guys mock at $60 for a squeaker but it take all that just to raise them. Many of us over look the cost since it is a hobby. It may only take $12 to $13 in grain for a pair to raise one round but you have put more in them for feeding that pair over the winter and rid them of worms and lice. Feeding them each day with fresh water and and such. They need shelter and some put in some good cages while others use a junk pile of wood, the'pigoens dont mind the cages unless they are cramped and cannot fly at all. Anyway if you want birds right away get a few from Tony and you will get off to a good start and tell us about you. How long you lived in Sac area, where you came from, Do you have kit boxes? Who got you into rollers? stuff like that. PS click my name and you will see I am not unexcessible and that is what i am talking about. Thanks Bill C

ok..well anyways..im not new to roller..you can say that i raised pigeons for 3 years now.i got started because of ferals..and now i have roller.. now i use to have rollers..dont have them any more.i dont consider anybody influencing me to teh roller world..im just a animal person..when i was small i had chickens parrots, finches, goldfishes, kois,a rabbit, turtles and now rollers/mutts... i pay for my own feed.. its actually alot of work.. $21.99..i barely buy things that teenagers buy like clothes, games etc..instead i have to save 20 bucks everytime im out of feed. and i dont even get money that often..( see the sacrafices i take??? lol)i dont have a kit box instead a loft.i have a seperate breeding pen for 2 pairs..and i am from sacramento..

Thisroll, Thanks for sharing about your life. I am glad to see a teen into rollers. What is your name? Look into the penny saver and you can find free wood sometimes. I got some 2X4s real cheap out of that magazine. The feed can be expensive for a young man. Does your parrents help you out with feed? Are you old enough to work part time yet? Well anyway glad to get to know you! The NCRC will post when they have the roller show. You are welcome to go. May be they will have a kit box for raffle.
Chai, Dude why dont you band your birds? You will never be accused of stolen birds if they have bands. Many birds look alike and if a guy had some stolen and seen the same one with out a band it looks suspicious for a reason. Clubs sell the expired bands real cheep, just keep a record on the real year they were born. Chan had many families of rollers, Jaconettes, Ollie Harris, Pensoms, some really good yellows at one time. He no longer flys rollers since his eye sight is not that good. He cant see them up high. He still has some homers and a few birds but does not fly rollers anymore. He is an encylopedia on rollers and a legend in the sport for sure. Chan has a great son who take care of him and Chan is never alone. Us local guys know of him and I wish him well. Bill C

The nominated president has to decide. He was thinking of December but that is probably too soon. Usually they have it in April or May when the weather is more predictable and guys can bring in some squeakers or kit birds for sale. I will make sure you know about it when they decide on a time. BUt for now I do not know as it has not been decided on where or when but it does take place once a year in Northern Calif. This year it should be in a Sacramento Park I think. bill c

Bill, I do band all my birds but due to my breeding cages there band get caugth in between the cage floor and so I didnt want them to break there legs that way...Only my breeder I had to cut there bands off but for all my young kit birds every single one is banded...I banded all my birds NPRA and with my personalize red band on the other legs...Im pretty sure that all my birds that were stolen, the bands were probably cut off already but the only way for me to tell if they were mine is because I have pictures to prove it and I could tell how my birds look like...I dont know anyone else here in Sac or Cali that fly Fireballs...
