I wanted to introduce myself as I'm somewhat of a newbie. My name is Robert and I live in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Back in the late 90's and early 2000, I raced pigeons. In 02, my wife and I got married and moved to our own place. Due to the lack of yard space, I had to give up my lofts (one racing loft and one breeding loft).

Recently, I began looking around Youtube for pigeons and came upon the Birmingham Rollers. I've seen show rollers at shows but never really thought much of them.

I began researching them recently because I learned that they do not take up as much space and does not require as much attention (road training) as racing homers.

So I joined NBRC and began reading...reading and reading. I then started my kit box and here are some pics. Is there anything you guys would recommend I do to make it better (since I'm still in the building stage)?

Please excuse the mess as I've been putting all of it together in my garage.

Specs:

8Lx3Dx4T divided into two 4x3x4 boxes
Sloped from front to back with
1x1 mesh flooring with drop tray
The door will be 1/3 half inch mesh and the rest 1/2 ply

Any suggestions or changes I should consider?

Can't really tell by the pics but I would make the kitboxs roof slant a little bit so when it rains water doesn't collect at the top and damage your work.

The Game- Yeah, its hard to see but the roof is sloped from the front to back. The front is 48" and the back is 44". Once I get to the walls, it should be easy to see...I'll keep posting pics of my progress.

Thanks everyone, yeah, the fish tank actually holds a 4 foot boa...anyone want it? I'm in SoCal and one of the conditions from my wife for me to have rollers is to get rid of the snake...trade for a pair of rollers?...

Anyways, thanks for checking it out. Thanks to Val...here are the pics:

I'm out of town today and tomorrow but will be back at it again on Thursday. So far, I've got about 4 hours into this...with no assistance but from my 5 year old daughter.

Yeah, paint time has been set aside. My daughter get wait to get her paint brush on this thing.

Ralph- Yeah, its a pretty nice boa too, its a hypo so there are no black pigments on the skin...as for family, nothing yet. Hoping to get this thing done and begin my search. The problem is that in SoCal, everyone has pretty much been on lock down. I was referred by someone to get from reputable sources but don't know how to approach them. We'll see how it all plays out.

You going right just take your time... you getting the kit box ready so that's a good thing .its better to be prepare for an opportunity and not have one .then have an opportunity and not be prepare at all..patience is the key here and since you have past experience with your homers I know you know the game..Good Luck and good having you here..
