Here are three hens that are from my A-Team....2 are 08 and one is an 07. These are awesome birds in the air...the 07 I bred from at the end of the breeding season...and have 3 young ones in the young bird team...I mated her to her uncle on the Mort side.

Here she is....07 3/4 Ruby 1/4 Mort...Father is Lavender cross and Hen is pure Ruby from a lavender hen I borrowed from Tony....

She was frequent, fast and tight, 20-35'

Photobucket

Here is the 04 Pure Mort Cock I put her on....It is her Great Uncle He was 20-40' Fast and Tight...Pure POWER..

Photobucket

Here is an 08 Hen....Best 08 Bird..Super fast and frequent...one of my first hatches...she is 3/4 Mort 1/4 Ruby....Never gets tired

She is half sister to Hen above...they share the same lavender cock Father...Her Mother is also her dads Mother..LOL

Photobucket

Here is a 1/2 Rub and 1/2 Mort Hen....Super Fast bird and Frequent..it is almost a toss up between the blue check hen above...Her father is the Black cock above and the mother is my 04 Black Ruby Hen...20-40'

Paul those are some good looking pairs.

The Black/White Badge and Blucheck look like they are screamers.

QUESTION: Were these birds part of your 2nd Place position in the NBRC Fall Fly?

The Black W/F Badge, Blue Bar and Blue Check were all in the 2nd place team.....I usually fly my birds at least 14 months before I pull them....but I pulled the Blue bar and the Blue Check....I could not risk losing them....THose two birds went straight from the young bird team to the A-team...and were flawless....when i looked at my notes from years past....it seems about 90% of my stock skipped the B=team all together and went straight to the A-team....and fit right in....

The two hens above actually woke the A team up when I introduced them to the team back in Late July.....and they never missed a beat.

The Black Badge....I actually pulled her...and bred her and let her raise a round and then put her back in the team

Brian,

That bird I gave you is related to the Black cock...that black cock is a half brother to your bird and the Blue Bar cock I talked about in the last post is the Father....

Ya Paul, the blue bar must be a potent bird as he throws his looks (structure) on all the birds posted. Just curious out of the Mort birds you have gone towards how many pairs or birds do they go back to?

So all the Mort stock that I have bred go back to a Blue Bar 03 Cock, Black 03 Hen, Grizzle 97 Hen, 2002 Red Mottle Cock, Blue Tort Cock (dead), Blue Bar Hen. The Blue Bar Cock and Black hen is the cream rising to the top.

The 03 Blue bar Cock and Black hen...I flew out as young birds....the rest were flown out by Mort....and they were part of his stock.

After looking at the third picture of the black cock, and you mentioned a lavender cock you must have gotten some good Plona Blood from Morteza.
Morteza got some of my plona birds from a guy by the name of Newman, when he got out of birds for health reasons.

Blake Coates has Plona based birds as well and is third currently in the NBRC Fall Fly just behind you Paul.

Brad,

Thanks for the info...Mort had said that some went back to Plona..he said he had a little Higgins in the mix and whatever he got from Scott Campbell if Utah and some other Utah Fliers and then built is line....All the birds in the photos were raised by me.....except the Blue Bar Cock..and the black hen with the Blue bar cock...those were from Mort.....the Lavender and the Mealy bar hen are Ruby Rollers from Tony and they are in the mix......I think most of the Lavender comes from Tony's birds...but I know Mort has some Lavender in his stuff too. Thanks for the info Brad...

That is "some gene pool" in the birds you have.
If the birds get better year after year you know your on the right track.
It good to see someone not so fixated on one line of birds do so will----great job.
Scott Campbell of Utah had Norm Reed Birds.

I was at the fall fly and and saw Blake Coates birds fly. Mort came up. I know that he got birds from Blake at one time. They come from Jim Brown who has Plona birds.
What Mort has done with them is all up to him, and at least Paul has used them well. Mort flyis in a differnet region of the club so i have never seen his birds.
