Scott Campbell can give you an answer to this question, but since he has not responded I will take a stab at it.
Breed the almond to a T-check with kite. This will give you some great coloring.
I have breed almonds since 1997 and have found that the good Almond rollers are few and far between. Brad Winward

To start you need an Oriental Roller, thats where most came from in this country, for the Andalution you need a homer, then cull the entire bunch of mutts. ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Erwin to make andalusion you must have a Indigo mated to a Black.
Or better yet get a andulusian and you will be set ... Good luck George

Do not mate almonds to blacks if you want to breed decent to good colored rollers. Spread from blacks jacks up the almond expression, particularly the ground color. Kites are the only color to breed almonds to. You'll find it as challenging to find intense colored kite rollers as it is to breed good colored almonds. A second choice would be a dark tortiseshell exhibiting lots of bronze, but you will have to weed out the grizzle factor.

I have found if you mate an Almond back to a T-check and the babies come out t-check you have a good chance of having a good roller.
I have bred the almond long enough that if someone tells me he has bred awesome rolling Almond you know that they don't have a fill for what a good roller looks like in the air.
I have been crossing the almond with the plona birds and have found that at about 6 months they start to fall apart in the kit and start to be problem birds.
Almond is a color I like to look at but getting tired of breeding because the precentage of good birds is terrible.
Most all, if not all Almonds came out of Southen Utah year and years ago. The oriental look is diffantly there even after years of breeding.
Breeding Almond to Black gives me light Almonds most of the time.
Some of the Almond get so big that it take two hands to hold on them. I have got my almond down in size, so they are not so big. There again after year and years of breeding you still have the Oriental features.

Quickspin, They are very colorful. How do they do in competition? I realize that competition is not everything, but since I can't stand under them it is the only measuring stick that I have.

We have an almond mated to a recessive red hen just to see how the colors will change. He puts out some fantastic rollers when mated to the kite hen.
