Kel.....I have to re-organize my pic and put them up. I have a fly pen(6x6x7high)on the back side for my FOR's. My kitsboxes(4-3x3x4))on the inside, rightside. You can see the settling cdages hanging thier. 3 separate breeding compartment(6x6x8) and the flight cage on the front rightside is for my White homers. The left front flight cage is for one of the breeder compartments. The fenced in area on the far left is my chicken yard....LOL ---------- Fly High and Roll On

JDA....My birds and I like the Crown breeding pens...lol Instead of stacking 4 on top of 4. I took 4 and hung them on the right side wall of my one breeding loft and put the other 4 of the left side wall. I added a 6x6 piece of plywood for a perch in front of each door.
Sorry about this electric cord in the way...LOL

Rudy.....Well this is the first snow... Alittle early this year. The temps have gotten down in the mid 20's at night and up in the mid 30's during the daytime. But it shouldn't last too long......I hope.....LOL.
As for the Hardesty/Roe birds.... Well lets just say that Iam putting more time in with the Ruby's and the Oriental Roller now. Gona devote my time to these 2 breeds for awhile...and hope for the best.
Rudy, you and yours have a GREAT THANKSGIVING DAY...Enjoy that Texas heat.....

Crazy weather you got there folks! I salute you all for your determination in caring and flying these birds.
Now that I see snow there how do you take care of water? Do you have like anti-thaw machine so the water in your waterer don't freeze up?
Final question. Does Santa Clause lives there? Does he have rollers? (grin)

RodSD....as for the waters....I just put enough water in the bullet waters to fill the botton where the birds stick their heads in. Haven't gotten the water heaters yet.... Those are on my Christmas List this yr...lol
And Santa has something alittle bit bigger, "raindeers" that fly, not "rollers"......LOL -- Fly High and Roll On

I have water heater to keep the water from freezing. The heater has a thermostat when the temp dips bellow 38 degrees, the heater will kick in.
You can purchase those types from foys, Jedds or the Tractor Supply company near you.

Only get a few weeks of real freezing weather here but lumps of ice in the water can be a problem.I have 10 founts throughout my various lofts and to wire for electric heaters would be a movie.I like the idea from Windjammer to just pour enough into the fount for them to get a drink. ---------- Kel. I have spare waterers that get rotated daily during the winter. Yeah, it's more work but heck, it's way cheaper!

Running electricity to the loft is not allot of work. It is esental when you have animals in the backyard. You slip the cable in a condoit an burry it in the ground about 12 to 18 inches deep. How hard can that be? Once it is done, it will always be there.

Like Kel, I have 9 waters.. I just take 5 gal bucket of HOT water from the house out to the loft and dip the bullet water bottons in the HOT water. I just got finished hooking up the electric in the loft this past weekend. Like I said before those heaters are on my Christmas list....LOL ---------- Fly High and Roll On

I find I use the bottom of the bullets or like container . I go out with a 10 gallon full of water and fill the containers while the birds are eating. I pour the water and then they all take a drink within 5-10 minutes.
Before i shut off the lights i take the water containers out and pour out any excess water and put the containers away for the next day . I find this methood works for me and I never end up with frozen water . One feeding and drink a day inthe evening and the birds are fine, They do not need water available all day.
In a previous post someone mentioned that the heaters cause bacteria to develop if the water is not changed reguliar , lets say every other day...if thats the case how much further does a heater put you ahead.
My thoughts for now , the heaters would be good if you are away for a few days mind you that would be a huge advantage .

The heater doesn't cause bacteria. The water stays cold in the waterer but not freezing. I have been using the heater in the winter months for several years now and have no problems with them. They really help in those cold days especially with the thermostat. They are on when they need be and off when they don't.
For your kit boxes use the coffee mug wormer plate under your metal waterers. This will help to keep the water from frezzing.
