I heard the roller activity around Spokane isnt good at the present time. The western part of Montana where Richard Hayes lives is more active. He lives near Polson where the lake is located. There are several fanciers living in that locality. Bill Williams lives near Billings, Montana. If you get in that area give him a call. It would be a good place to start a new local roller club. Good luck! ---------- "Crystal Palace Roller Lofts" _______(Ray Sanchez)_______

There are some great guys in western MT, Rich Hayes, Gary Barres and others. However, Spokane area has not been very active flying with rollers the past several years. Many of the fliers from there have moved or arent active in flying just now. Ron Phelps, out ... Clay Palamides, moved ... Stuart Brown, not active ... Rick Schoening, moved ... Dennis Hayes, not active .... It is approximately 8 hrs drive time from Boise to Spokane. Idaho, E. Washington and Montana have split as a region for NBRC, Idaho is seperate now. Another contact you may make in Billings is Gerald Apps. He flies birds from Gary Barres and Rick Schoening. Throughout MT and E. Washington roller guys are very spread out, part of the reason for seperating regions.

I was there flying hard, rollers and racing homers from 91-95 and had little problem..some around but no major problems. I believe it was 97 or 98 and Ron Phelps lost some 125 young birds..even had the local wildlife man out to observe. He got out shortly thereafter. Things have changed much in the past 13-15 years, but I think they are more bearable than other places in our grand country.

I believe Bruce lives out in central wa. not as many trees. I don't have anything to compare with as I've always lived in west Spokane. Lots of trees and lots of BOPS this year. I have'nt even flown them lately as everytime I do the BOPS seem to just show up out of no where. Somehow they know which bird is your favorite and thats the target. If I can do anything for you let me know. Ron

Hey Frenchroll I live in the northwest corner of Montana. I have had very little problems with bop's. In the last 3 years maybe 6 birds.I do have several great horned owls that are deadly if a bird doesn't get back in before night fall. I have birds from Rich Hayes , Rick Shoening and Neible's. I've heard Rick is moving back in July? There are some really great roller guys in the region. I haven't heard from any of them that struggle with bop's. Good luck on your move. Joe
