Hey All, thank you for all your participation in the site. The level of knowledge on this forum is awesome and all you posters have my utmost appreciation for your contributions here.

However, along with all this wonderful knowledge, we also have an overabundance of threads and postings that have become a little too cumbersome to sort through and it does make it more difficult to find the nuggets of real meat...

Over time, I will be going through and modifying, editing and deleting the fat off the forum pages. I hope no one will take offense as none is intended in this effort. If you should see one of your posts, pictures or topic threads changed in any way, it is not an action meant to hurt anyone, simply an attempt to minimize clutter and meet our site goals.

==

As for the updated posting policy, I see where I need to be more clear and precise in the wording of the policy. Any changes, I hope will make it better and more easily understood so that more of us are on the same page and can better see eye to eye, especially when it comes to participating and offering our ideas and avoid the temptation of spreading personal agendas.

==

Negative Personal Agendas: making yourself look good at the expense of others, tooting your own horn, bringing up topics to make others look bad or inferior, etc...

When I see these kinds of posts or threads or similar, which in my view, promotes an agenda, I will remove them.

If you see a thread or post of yours that has been removed, contact me either offline or via email to voice your opinion. I will not justify myself, you just have to trust me that I am doing what's best for the greatest number of people and what is good for this site and its interests.

==

Posting Pictures: When I see pictures that I believe will have an ongoing educational benefit, I will post them in a special photo gallery along with a caption of the submitter and relevant information.

Pictures that are posted and that I determine, do not have any ongoing educational merit other than to show off the "family album" will be subject to deletion.

Pictures are great, but remember, this site is not MySpace or Facebook. Any pictures that will have staying power, must have educational value or be subject to removal.

==
In closing, please understand, in order to maintain the quality and purpose of this site, certain controls are necessary to make this happen successfully. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

shame u did not make these rules n changes at the begining tony as u will know people will always think that new rules n changes come in because of complaint from others and as we all know some only complain because they are gealouse of others

C'mon, CV, you haven't read the posting policy? If you have, then why are you saying "WOW"? LOL

As for freedom of speech, it only applies to the US "Congress" making laws that prohibit IT from passing laws forbidding freedom of speech. Does NOT apply to private enterprise.

You must have missed that day in Civics and Government 101. That's ok. You are not the first to make that mistake...

Hey Norlan, yes, I have received complaints from people whom I respect, I guess there are a few long-timers who actually tend to get through the chatter. lol

But they are not the sole reason for this new tack, I think it is good for the site and will increase the level of quality posting.

Better threads make it more worthwhile for those who come here and hope to learn a thing or two from the myriad of experienced fanciers who also frequent the site.

I have dropped the ball by letting too much BS go on for too long, I guess I was trying to keep everyone happy again by saying nothing and letting things work themselves out... I got to stop that.

I know you made a mistake or two when your alleged "humor" ran off an established member from the UK forum a time or two ago. LOL

We do the best we can, and sometimes that's not good enough. But at least I sleep pretty well at night thank God...Later.

Hey Norlan, without the punctuation, I cannot make out what you intend to say in what appears to the last sentence in your post just above this one. Please help me out. Thanks.

The only problem I see in this forum is the personal attacks that some do. There is no need for such attacks. In fact that is the only problem that I can see and nothing more. I don't know what Tony's beef is? I am hoping to see examples.

About the picture issue. I don't get that part. Do we not use photobucket? Kindly explain more.

Let em help you out here Tony. I speak Dipshit.
He said If more guys went on chat instead of using the forum for a cell phone substitute part of the problem would be solved.
This is as close to an actual translation as I can get. Sometimes the meaning is skewed with the many dialects of Dipshit spoken in the world.
"As you know nobody can stop you from doing something like that.If you pack something(someone) in it is usually because you have to. Whom you blame for this is usually a weak excuse.(for a member of the forum?)

GREAT question, Rod! I was wondering the same thing.

I know that I pay for bandwidth for my own website, and if the videos I have linked there were using my own bandwidth, I'd already be shut down, but I use youtube and photobucket, so the files are stored on THEIR websites. I didn't think our pictures took up bandwidth, but then I'm no guru.

Hey Rod and kidden, I appreciate both your 58 and 248 posts respectively to date. Now let me give you some information from my perspective...there are between 600 and 700 people per day on this site. I have been at this for 5 years, January 2009 will start the 6th year in operation. This past week we went over 15,550,000 page views.

I have had my business threatened by other roller men, been visited by an undercover fed snooping for BOP before Operation High Roller was announced, had business records under federal subpoena, received threats and hate mail from animal rights groups, been quoted in Audubon Magazine, websites and animal rights blogs throughout the country in an unflattering way, been ridiculed for making quality stock available for a reasonable price, had jealous types trying to play "gotcha" with me with things I say or write, have untrue rumors and gossip spread about me and my birds...

...your going to have to forgive me from time to time when I get tired of having to explain myself and just want to lay down the law when I see it as benefiting the site by doing the most good for everyone.

As I have said before, you have to trust that I know what I am doing. Before I started Roller-Pigeon.Com there was nary a site worth visiting on the internet. In some ways, I would like to think that we pioneered the roller pigeon on the internet and raised the bar for everyone, both local and national clubs.

Keep in mind, I am 1 person with a staff of 1 (my wife). We sold our home in California and migrated to the country for a better life and doing this full time. I have no regrets but it is not always easy.

We only stay in business because our customers trust us and come back for more.

I do NOT run the site by committee, every time I think about recruiting a board of directors, my gut says, we are finished.

This is truly an entrepreneurial endeavor and I am by nature a very independent person, the hardest thing for me at times is to play kissy face to someone who needs to be told off, just to keep the peace and stay professional.

Most everyone who uses this board is a hobbyist, I am probably one of a few what I would call "professional roller pigeon breeders" who actually does this thing full time and yet not be classified as a feather merchant (those who do say this are ignorant of what I actually do).

I earn quit a bit less doing this than what I did before as an operations manager and business consultant. I do what I do for my own reasons and if you read enough of my writings on this site you will better understand what I am about.

In closing, NO MATTER WHAT I DO or say...I upset a group of people...I mostly try to walk a fine line and stay out of things. I have some pretty strong views and opinions and can go toe to toe with anyone on this site, as I have.

I think most who have been on here for awhile know that what I am saying is true. All I am asking is for slack to run the site the way I think will continue to make it successful. Thanks for listening.

Hey Tony,

I appreciate the response. I feel bad for those things that people did to you. I joined this website because it has lots of good info. Good website has those characteristics. Congrats on those many page views. We must also give thanks to those who posts here because without them there will be no discussions. Without discussions and sharing knowledge (and pictures), there will be no contents.

The reason I asked you about those pictures is that I thought you might not allow pictures showing anymore that shows people's birds (like album). But I trust your decision(s).

Here's my interpretation of your answer, Tony:

"Because I can, so be grateful and shut up!" LOL

Your post reminds me of how I felt when I did the newsletter for a couple of clubs I was in and people would come to meetings and ask questions that were already answered in the newsletter, like they hadn't read it. It was a thankless job, and I felt not just under appreciated, but UNappreciated.

Your post sounded defensive and I am sorry if my question put you there -- it was not my intent. I was truly curious about the mechanics of your decision, not that it was any of my business.

The world seems to be a place that, even when you're trying to help others, makes you constantly have to protect yourself. Man, kudos to you for perservering after all you've been through.

I believe that you're attempting to keep this site as close to a serious reference for rollers as you can, and that is your motivation for most of your decisions. Occasionally you find yourself having to play referee!

I am really enjoying the knowledge and advice on this site, but I have to tell you that I think the tidbit I have enjoyed most of all, out of all the posts I have read so far, is Scott's advice the other day about breeding for a specific color. He said something along the lines of breeding an Oriental and Homing pigeons to get the color desired, then to cull the entire mess. I like color and I like roll, so this was the funniest post I have read so far!

In case I haven't personally told you before, THANKS for all you do, Tony!
