I had 8 birds shipped from Ohio to Utah. USPO was $50 and Change. The box was 20. $70 dollars to ship the birds. Sac to La might be nice to meet in the middle. Find a flier in the middle you can have lunch with, watch a few birds and a have a good road trip.

I ship from West Sacramento to anywhere in the US....what you do is call the "Express Mail" side of the USPS in West Sac...I have the phone number at home...you have to call the day before you ship...give them the zip code that you are shipping too....then they give you an authorization number....and they give you the day to bring them by based on flights available....FED EX ships for USPS. Then you bring the birds in the day the tell you to ship....and I believe you have to have them there by 11am.....make sure you have them in a shipping container....approved by USPS and you can get those from Tony, Foys, Horizon.....and it is that easy....make sure you have the phone numer to put on the shipping form...so they can call the person that you are shipping to when they arrive.....They will not ship if it is over 85 degrees at the time you drop off the birds.....
I just shipped NBRC auction birds to The LA area and they were there the next morning....if you are shipping across the country..make sure you feed your birds early in the morning and make sure they drink water....During the summer I usea a bulb syringe and shoot extra water into there crop....they can survive quite awhile without food... but they are dead without water.....
