Had four of my birds out today then Mr. Cooper showed up. He managed to hit one of my birds :( but didn't quite get it. Any ideas/suggestions on what to do with the injured bird?
I locked him up in one of the breeding pens alone.

That is not too bad on the cut. Just let him rest on his own and feed him all he wants. He will be ok in a couple of weeks.

I had a roller hit by a hawk also. I put "New Skin Liquid Bandaid" on the wounds to keep the infection and flies off the wound. It worked real good and it is not expensive.

Like already posted. Lock down if you plan on having anything next year. These are words of experience from anyone who has said this. It seems all new fliers have to experience it but just take our advice and lock them up. As for the bird. Some heal just fine however I have had a few that never did get back in the air after a wing injury just like the one you a showing. I surely hope for your sake the bird is back in the air soon. Yes, you got hit by a Coopers and it does look like a female. I got hit myself this morning and lost one. I will have to lock down for at least a week or two. The birds in my area are still migrating through so I have to be careful they don't stay in the area. I'm sure the hen that hit me today will hang around for at least a week looking for another kill.
