I know LaRon knows about these birds. I was just wondering if any of you folks are working with this line. They are a new line for me thebirds were a gift from J.P.Isom in febuary. I raised 6 birds and 3 are making it to my a-team and to the stock loft if I keep them thrue the winter.

The first born set I got a 40' fast spinner a little infrequent but very nice style, Nest mate is no longer with me he found the corner of the loft coming in.

Second set I got a very nice little mottle hen very frequent and a 10-20' spinner nest mate I gifted to Steve Mitchel

Third set one died doing its first roll it was about 40'
up and rolled till it stoped. Its nest mate is a nice red self that is 10-20' frequency is not their yet but the bird is only 5 months old. I sent some photos of the parents,

Red Grizzle hen from J.P. Isom

The self is the cock and the spangle the hen.

David, aren't those basically the same background as your Easley and Starley birds? Or are they different?

John Destouet Birds come from Ralph Hilton. Jay Starley recieved his birds from John Destouet. I believe that Ken Easley has birds that are also from John Destouet line.

Yes they are apples from the same tree. I have sent all of my Easley birds to Pat66 I do have some Starley stuff via Rod Forbush.

This group of birds from J.P. have a slower wing beat. Set up nicer for the spin. Come into roll sooner. ( Even though in Ralph's writings he prefered a slower developer ) and are tamer they also seem to have a get up and go attitude when you open the kit box door, no need to flag them up. Actually I find the last aspect to be the same in the Starley birds.

I am going to foster out a bunch of eggs from this pair and get me kit of them for further evaluation.
I love them so far thats for sure.

David,
Do you find the Starleys to be quite large? I have a red check hen raised from some birds that Joe Bob got from Jay Starley...she spins like a fool, but she is bigger than most of my cocks! She was flown in the Convention Futurity kit in 2007 and was voted second best performer in the kit. She throws the spin, but also the size. I have two others, a red saddle cock and a black self hen off the same stuff that are a little smaller that I plan to breed this year. The red saddle cock is a nice medium size. Would you be interested in this red check hen?

Cliff,

Actually the Starley stuff I have is on the small size. I have raised a few bigger ones but they were always cock birds.

I would love the red check hen but I am real short on the green stuff right now. It was hard for me to find a winter job this year so I am doing good just to keep wheat in there bellies.

I am working with this line also. I have a pair from Mont Bone, that came from Jay Starley, I also have 6 from Adam Hill, that are from John Destouet. They are good birds. they take a little longer,I guess then ohers to really tuyrn it on.
Cliff
I have Some Billings/Campbell and Hoyle birds. they are about the same size. If David can not get the hen from you I would like to have her, if you wouldn't mind.

RT,
Where are you located? I also have a pair of Clay Hoyle's birds that I will part with...both flew in his National Championship kit the year he won. These are all good birds...I've just accumulated too many families of birds and have decided not to outcross families and circle the wagons around a few key pairs of the Turner family that are producing the goods for me. So whoever gets me a box and a check for shipping ($35) first will get the birds...fair enough?

Cliff, You are one of the most generous guys I know. Thank you so much for the offer of the birds it means alot to me to just know that you care about the hobby and its people.

However I will at this time need to pass on them. I know RT needs that hen and Hoyle pair so lets get them to him. RT will treat them well and raise a bunch of squeaks. Then I will hit RT up for a few Hoyles if I need them.

Thanks again,

Thank you for letting me have them. Please be sure that it is okay, I do not want hard feeling between anyone. If you want them I have a box that you can use to get them. If you want some squeaks next fall let me know and i will get you a few.
