What is the most positive act you have ever done for the hobby?
I'll start it off. built a cage for a 12 yr old and gave him birds to start with. organized a club for new roller flyers, put on the put-em up or shut up fly, and donate birds for every function and participate also.

I like that, the worst mistake to positive stuff I like it,
I have donated a ton of birds for auctions etc. When I lived in south jordan Utah we had a youth club that had the kids earn there birds, feed etc by helping at the retirement home.
School presentations /mobile loft presenations/ retirement home presentations
Built a bunch of kit boxs and such for new fliers. Still trying to get to know the folks in my new location so I can start doing stuff up here.
I have fun writing and illustrating so have helped with newsletters etc. Made a coloring book about rollers for the local 4-h club
But I tell you what I have had the most fun with is helping a local kid get a kit going and watching his progress.
Had tons of fun!

My second year in my state club, I have help promote the club with many phone calls encouraging other flyer to join. Supported the club best I can at this time in my life. Became band director this year. Offered to be score keeper at every fly that I've been to. Was asked by our club president this year if I wanted to help manage and organize the state fly next year. Considering it if no one else more qualified than me wants it!
Just trying to support something that I totally believe in! We have a great group of guys in our club and I want to see what we can make of it! ---------- Val

For me it would have to be this year, the fourming of the new region (9I). Learning alot about what it takes to be a R.D. Also doing my best to get out and support our fellow Clubs and Flyer's.

Helping young guys start out and coaching them. Also, sharing knowledge so that others can benifit.
Cliff - The pedigrees were probably fake. Do not blame that on Bill Pensom at all.

What is a pedigree Cliff ? LaRon's question is legit, what did Pensom have to do with you getting burnt whether peds were fake or not ?

LaRon, You may be right....but I believe the pedigrees were probably valid....just generations of unflown birds sold based on pedigree alone. I certainly do not blame Pensom. I'm sure he has rolled over many times in his grave about such practices for the past several decades. Cliff

Silvertail- I totally agree. He has helped me out quite a bit on "learning the ropes". Very nice guy to deal with and definitely a benefit to have around in this hobby.
D- I know I always talk your ear off but I appreciate it. Now lets get that loft done. I'll call you today.

Cliff - I have mentioned this many times on the board as I have a friend that has 5-7 generations of birds not flown. He still thinks his birds can spin and wants to say the are Pensom. I always tell him start flying them and once one spins with high velocity call that one (1) a pensom and get rid of the rest. A pedigree is not worth a dime if the bird does not perform correctly and can produce the same. All and I mean all birds produce junk. 514 had a ton of sisters and brothers but only a few of them were worth a dime.
