its sad that we have to lock our birds at this time of year because i believe that they really do their best at this time of year, especially after they have finished moulting. whats your take????

I still try and fly my birds at least a couple times a week this time of year. But it also depends on the weather conditions, like if and when the snow comes. ---------- Fly High and Roll On

Central Washington State..I flew birds for aprox. 4 hours today..free lofted some squeakers..getting them settled..cut a batch of fresh collard greens and while my bride cooked them, barbecued fresh antelope steaks. Blackberry jam (home made) pushing a bowl full of Tilton apricots for desert. Cup of coffee, shut the birds up for the night..going over the breeding records like all the rest of the roller flyers at this time of the year. But, I get to fly without visitors. (smile)

I almost got hit yesterday by a cooper. The hawk got the tail of my homer and my bird fell down. After shouting the hawk left my bird. Hawks migrate south in the winter and I supposed they are here. But my resident hawk is always here all season. In fact it lives next door among the trees. If I fly rollers I'll probably be crying right now.

I`m still flying 1 kit here in Indiana. The rest are locked up getting fat. The flying kit is still rolling but not the same quality. They get double feed with whole corn. I`m surprised they are rolling at all. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

I had to lockdown for a couple of weeks in October, but have been flying BOP free. Gotta love winter flying. The Birds are in great feather and feeling good. Here in N.C. the winters are pretty mild compared to growing up in OHIO. 48 degrees today. 25 to 30 degree nights. I have a kit of late hatches starting to kit and acting like teenagers. Got a new Dog to watch the place. Life is good. Hope You all have clean skies. Chuck

I try flying when ever the weather lets me. Best time to fly as to BOPs. The fly time is what sucks. Hard to keep a tight lid on the feed can when the out side temp is only pushing teens.
