I use rollers they feed their you great. I have a breeding set up were I have 4 pairs of fosters for each stock pair. That way I am putting another set of eggs under fosters about every 12 days or so.

When the first set is ready to wean the real pair is just laying there 5th round. You can really raise a bunch of babies that way from your best pairs.

You must keep good records or you loose track of what came from where.

Good luck,

i dont recomend using first time parents to foster, they are not proven to know what to do,you can loose the clutch,as eegs ,or chicks in different stages of growth.the first few weeks are the mosts crutial, just make sure you have a heat lamp at night to make sure the chicks dont freeze, also buy a syringe to pump them up every night,i pump mine every knight..that doesnt sound right...lol

if it dont spin its a sin!!!

Thisroll,
I use rollers, Like this year I have 18 late hatch rollers that I couldn't get out. They are from proven lines and are good birds. This way if they are allowed to raise a round it is a good way for a test mating. For example you have 3 pairs of fosters for every pair of breeders. And you allow you breeders to raise every third round. Then you can allow your fosters to raise a round. I know you will only have one or two birds from this pair but what happen if they raise a smoker? Now if your using other birds for fosters then you have to have two lofts and have the other birds there all the time to raise your babies. Do you want other birds or do you want to concentrate on your family of birds?
Thanks Brian

I use the first family of bids I recieved. I have 3 pairs, none of them do anything more than a few countable flips. I would get rid of them but I gave them to my kids. Down side is I have 8 young birds from them. A couple of wich I wanted for more fosters for next year. It works good for me.
