I`ve heard of some using it just before a fly to clean them out. It breaks down their system and sort of weakens them so they dont resist the roll. I was at a fly once and the guy said he had done this. He recomended we all wear hard hats.LOL And, they were a hot team. I dont think I`d recommend doing this very often. It cant be good for them. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

He is right...I only do it twice a year....and I worm twice a year....it does clean them out and make them feel better...I have no seen a difference in roll or activity in my birds before or after use.

hi all jay epsom salts is something we used to use a lot years ago because the old timers sweared by it.but ive used it lots of times + the only thing i noticed it made good rollers roll shit.i might use it if birds are really flat or like paul says to clean them but it is a very severe way of cleaning them as it scours thier insides.

J. Wanless,
Epsom salt does not scour the insides of the bird...if there are scours it is from the worms.....Epsom salt is used for human consumption as a pooper...and it is used in livestock and birds....it is as safe and gentle as a babies ass when it comes to the digestive system....that is why it is used...it does not hurt the birds at all...it cleans them out and that is it.....no more and no less....it does not affect the performance of the birds either way....I do notice that my birds roll a better a couple days later..but that is from the birds feeling good.....from getting wormed...cleaned out ...meds etc....anyway...no worries....
