Mine: A Birmingham Roller is a fancy breed of pigeon bred to perform in the air and in order for it to be a Roller I feel it should roll a minimum of 10 feet or else it would be a tumbler. I'm not sure I would call flippers Birmingham Rollers.. Maybe Birmingham Tumblers. :D THEY ARE DEFINITELY A MULTI-PURPOSE BREED!

The birmingham roller is a perfection that we all strive for but will never exist because nobody is perfect and no bird will be a birmingham roller.. but they will be close to it..

The definition of a Birmingham Roller, is a roller "Which Turns Over Backwards With Inconceivable Rapidity Through A Considerable Distance, Like A Spinning Ball." Anything Else Is Garbage :)

Took the words right out my mouth Flip..lol was about to write that ..this is the way the great Bill P taught it and it stuck in my head ever since..That is a true Birmingham Roller ..he must start right and stop right facing the team and heading right on back to it....----------

All rollers these days are mixed some way or another and as years pass they will be no pure birmingham roller. There will be less breeders of pigeons due to the younger generation want computers not pigeons. So keep your birds pure and get younger people involved with pigeon or else latter there will be no birds.

Flip, that is the way I understand it.

Spinner ball, We have got to get the youth involved it is sad to go the fair and see one single layer of birds at the show. When I was a kid there would be 10 or 12 rows all double or triple stacked with show cages.

There were at least five or six fliers in my neighborhood now there is one. In my old neighborhood there are none left the city put a stop to that.

So we need to be active with the ordinance folks to make sure no pigeon ordinances do not get passed also.

But for heavens sake try to think of ways to get the youth interested. My girls would always say come play a game of Mario Cart with me so I would trade with them. I will play four rounds, but then you have to come and help me pick the best birds for the a-team.

The girls now love the rollers and are active in all phases of them.

hi i agree with about every thing that was stated except that everyone has a different view on what they are striving for ie spin velocity depth kitting ability just to name a few so for me i would like my birds to spin at least 20 feet kit well return quickly but that is just me & not everyones point of view on what they are looking for oh and one other thing andy thats everything except the yellows ha ha

Hej Lads & Lasses,
The Birmingham Roller is NOT a fancy breed, it is and all ways has been a SPORTING BREED, all flippers and birmingham tumblers should be put in the BIN, :D THEY ARE DEFINITLY NOT A MULTI-PURPOSE BREED.

hi ducket i agree all BIRMINGHAM "TUMBLERS" should be put in a bin but were talking about "BIRMINGHAM ROLLERS" not tumblers & ill take a good spinner over any other breed of bird out there (just my opinion) & i was just wondering what are you flying????
thanks rick

Hej true spin,
Thanks John.
My birds go back to Ollie Harris, Morris Hole and I have a Blue Badge cock from John that I am trying to work in, I will be breeding from 12 pr, the weather is terrible cold wet and windy, I have not had the birds out for weeks now, it will be in the new year before I fly them out again, this will be my last mail for the time being as I am off to England for Xmas, so have a good Xmas & New Year, good luck with your birds in the upcoming Breeding & flying season.
Eric, Denmark.
