Hey George, were you a trainer back then? I grew up at a rent stables on the riverbottem in Burbank and used to spend a lot of time at the WeHo in Whitter. I also have a lot of friends who work at the tracks. Are you still involved with the horses?

I first went to the track with the Valenzuelas. Milo, Martin, Angel, Pat Vals uncles.

They tought me the Basics .

I left the track in 2000 , I miss it but I wont be going back for a while. The sport is not the same, its dying out

First the Lotto then the Indain Casinos it will never be the same .

I remember the normal attendance on the weekend was 50 thousand racing fans a Day at the track.

Goerge, I know what you mean, My cousin is John Ashby, he is an outrider down there and he says the same thing. It took him so long to get in he is staying put. I used to rodeo with Floyd Baze, His cousin is Russel Baze and Russels Cousine Earl Baze is still hustleing on the fair circut. He goes from Pleasinton to Sunland, it is a way of life and ya have to love it to put up with it,same with rodeo, but ya gotta make a living. Its like you posted other day ya gotta have good stock.

The reason I lasted so long was that I was getting paid to do what I liked.

how many people can say that and mean it ?

It was never about the Money, and it still aint. If a person is happy and can get by on what he has ,then he is a rich man.

You said a mouthful there. Not many people can truly say that. I tell people its the same with the birds, you have to fly in comps for the right reasons. In my book its not about winning a trophy, its about putting your birds up on fly day and be happy when they perform to the best of their ability win lose or draw. If you prepare them properly and they preform like they are suppose to you are a winner, you accomplished your goal.

Hello Oscar
I hope all is well with you and your Family.

The horses are cool and I had a lot of good times thanks to the man upstairs.

maybe when my Kids grow up I will roll the dice and buy me a few horses and have some fun.

Merry Christmas Oscar and I hope you can make it out to our show in Feb.

George
