Seasons Greetings to all....

I was hoping that some of you could post pictures of your mating pens along with the mathematical dimensions of them.

Working on a project with a friend and would like some fresh ideas.

Thanx in advance!

Paul,
That is not a loft. That is a house. Very nice loft/house you got there. You rock!

Magnificently marvelous work Paul. Awesome bro!

Keep that up and you might become one of the "Hall of Famers" too. he...he...he...

....well anyway

I was hoping to get a cool photo of a mating cage... say around 1.5ft (18 inches wide) x 2.5 ft (30 inches long) x 10 inches high. So I need more pictures folks!

Hey Marcus, heres what I done. The fronts are wire shelf sections you can get almost anywhere for closets and such. The boxs vary , but are basically 3 to 4 feet wide, 20 inchs tall and 20 inchs deep. I built a wooden box, you can see inside the pen .it holds 1 nest bowl under and another above.

I use the pop bottle waterers and a feeder outside the cage so I dont have to get in very often at all. Banding and cleaning is about it.

I`m not breeding yet either. when the weather breaks I think I`ll put the first pairs together. I use newspaper on the floor of the pen with a little wood shavings. Easy cleanup. roll the paper up and put down new.

Marcus, Here is a picture of an individual breeding pen I built for my new loft. It is 42"X22"X12". Each side is 19"X22"X12 with space in the middle for shared grit, waterers and feeders. Kind of patterned it off of the Crown cages I bought from Foy's a few years ago.

Sunflower, I like that space for the feed and water. At some point I might have to incorporate that into my pens, if you dont mind. LOL

Right on Butch!

All of those pens and cages look real cool. I can tell you put a lot of work into their construction.

Magnificently marvelous job!

Marcus,
Is that Seal Island off Monterey Point in the background of the photo above? Spent some time in the Monterey/Pacific Grove area myself a few years back.

That's a good question Joe.

Hmm.... let's see here.

That particular location is somewhere between the Monterey and San Luis Obispo shoreline along the central coast of California. Just can't pinpoint or recall the actual place in question.

Actually I forgot the name of the small town where that picture was taken. Highway 1 (The Pacific Highway) was the road me and my wife was traveling at the time and I decided to get out of the Cadillac Escalade (a rental vehicle) and stretch my legs out (and do a little bird watching).

As a bird scientist (Orinthologist), I have this fondness for bird watching and the research of a wide variety of species. Those out there on the rocks behind me on the small island are Gulls and Terns.

Talk to you later Joe....

Marcus....These are some that I built. They measure 48"long X 24"deep X 16"high. The trays I got from Foy's.

This is one of those 8 birds compartments for Foy's that I divided in half. I put 4 pens on each side in my breeding loft.

Hope this gives you some ideas you are looken for...
