Hey guys, I'm new to the DFW area and I'm looking for 1/8 pigeon pellets. I prefer the smaller one for my breeders. Any help would be appreciated.

1/8 is the size of pellet offered by Royal feed. They are alot smaller than the regular size pellets. I beleive they easier to swallow and better for my breeders. also stops the birds from picking over the feed as much. saves alittle

You can use a Layer Chicken Crumble,
That would be the size you need.

It will give them runny poo if grit is given with the pellets,Adds to to much salt content and then way more water is consumed.

Pretty much ya, I had the same problem, when i started giving my birds the Crumble, I noticed that the poo was a little to soft and little runny, Called up breeder that i received my birds from and was told to pull the grit, The pellets have everything in it for the birds including grit. But take into consideration the pellets will make them drink more water regardless,
But you will notice a difference with the young, being plumper and healthier. A 16% layer crumble is ideal for the breeders.

i fed my breeders on pellets only i used 50/50
chichen pellets with duck n goose pellets
they are very small easily digested n if check wat is in them they contain allsorts
i never got wet droppings feather quality was great
once they get used to them there is no need to pick out wat they like or dislike

I'm thinking about that because I just had two squeakers
born and I feed the parents 16% protein mix but they always take what they want and leave what they don't want .. so I'm thinking about buying that chicken pellet feed but never did because of reading how they get running poo .as for being healthy I always get them healthy no matter what because of the vitamins in water and the parents being healthy themselves,,can one of you guys post a pic of the bag so I know what it looks like when I go buy it. thx. ----------

Big Block...sorry for asking,I should have thouhgt alittle first.... I wasn't even thinking of the size.....my bad.

Most of the pellets that I have used in the past tell you right on the bag....Don't give GRIT while feeding pellets....And I look for the pellets with the LEAST amount of sodium content..

Big Block.......their are alot of GOOD brands of pellets. Deffinately do some research... Just make sure the one you pick is low in sodium... This way they won't fill up on water. Some pellet manufacturers have a mixture of grit in them already. Too much of anything is NO good... Like I said,I have been using pellets for yrs during my breeding seasons. Sometimes you just have to experiment with them to see which ones suits you best..
