is it normal for the cocks to beat up on the hen when i first pair them up? and how long does it take for the birds to start mating. i just paired everyone up today.

after 3 days they should settle if not put a wire section in the middle of nest box if cocks are still a bit rough so he cant get to the hen then they should be fine good luck flingscotsman

I raise Oriental rollers also and some of them can be real mean. I have though stoped breeding the overly agresive ones and my family Orientals is quit a bit more mellow.

I have seen scalped hens and other injuries so if you just watch them you should be o.k.
