Trap the commies. You'll do everybody a service. My losses of rollers ar about 85% following commies to someone's barn. So I trap the commies.

I live 1 block from hundreds of wild pigeons and never lose any of my birds to them. I think the trick is that when they are young do not flag them too early in there training. That will save you lots of problems. The birds will learn only to land at your loft. your birds might be hard to break of this habit if they have been doing it for some time.I do stray in some wild pigeons, but they leave as soon as they see me. I hope this helps and good luck ... mike

I have maybe seen one or two clinkers as I call them in old days and still do.... but they fly in with my birds but my birds never fly with them .you can tell this by the figure eight your birds are doing and the stray is trying to figure out the pattern and flys out again but never lands with them because I'm always here.but like Michael said don't flag your youngsters when training when they around.. they will go with them. ---------- Ralph

for my rollers, whenever a scrub follows them, they fly fast as tho they are being chased by a BOP. but i do get young scrubs in my loft occasionally but i give them away to little kids.

I have never heard of this problem before. A commie flys into my birds & they run. Even when a kit of homers comes by they run. Are you sure BOP's are not picking them off?---------- Yours in the Hobby Don Lunau

I don't have this problem either. In my old nieghborhood, a freind down the block fly his racers in a big flock. They mix with my kit on occasions and I've never lost one to him. They fly too fast and when they separate, my birds still stay above the house.

I have a guy around the corner from me with Tipplers. Our birds sometimes mix up but then they get back into their own kits and split up and go back home.

Did you know if you fly young tipplers with young rollers, the tipplers will sit on their tails like the rollers. ---------- Yours in the Hobby Don Lunau

Jnyce I don't have too many birds I lost 2 over the winter I think something was going around in my loft maybe cocci or canker? I got the birds on 4-1. Im down to 7 Rollers now and 2 homers and 2 Radar Pouters.
And yes the birds are all on Lockdown....got lots of Coopers around me and the occasional Peregrine.

i'm sure my rollers aren't being chased by BOP's. idk they do that to every pigeon that they don't know that tries to fly with their group.scrubs, homers, and other rollers that may have flown away from their owners.....weird i know but i like that...they stay as a group and if one wonders off the group follows it and rekite....yes weird and may seem untrue but i've seen it many times.
