Chris..that is generally only used for show birds that are very thick feathered ie Show Racing Homers etc. Rollers generally do not need any "help". ---------- De Oppresso Liber

Usually with Rollers you dnt need to do anything other the just feeding and this time of year give them some extra light to induce there sex drive, like a min of 12 hrs ----------

Hey chris sometimes people do things to hurt you but never once have i heard of words killing someone so sometimes we have to be the bigger person and let things roll of or back because at the end of the none of it really matters and you really shouldnt let people know what buttons they can push to piss u off because they will do it just because dont disrespect the site it is a lot of knowledge here and most people are willing to help u just have to ignore the one that dont, ya feel me jerry t

Chris, You are absolutely correct that trimming the vent area assists in ensuring fertility. This "technique",if you wish to call it that, is especially helpful for older breeders who lack the exhuberance anymore to be consistant in the mating process! I find it strange that any roller breeder would say that this method of fertility enhancement isn't needed. No loft has 100% fertility. Why even candle your eggs. Otis

I agree this trimming is done even with these birds as Otis stated they get older sometimes you have do what best to help ..I have read here many times people suggesting this Technique or what ever you want to call it to their rollers because of the infertility rate among their birds....put some strong bones on your back boy and get back in here..peace...---------- Ralph

ya know I used to have to do that with my Indian Fantails back when I raised them. I never thought to do this to a roller. Just this year I had a pair that just couldnt get the job done. A 95 cock. I wish I would of tried that on him. Thanks Chris ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

Best thing you can do for your old birds is give them a "Cod Liver" oil pill. An individual pen. My oldest cock 18 years old, hen 15 years old. ---------- Yours in the Hobby Don Lunau
