I got this idea from a friend of mine for a trap. It is easy to make and not expensive:

Hey Joe,
I think it is half inch..I need to get a better dowel this one is warped..LOL I thought this would be easy for the kids to build and alot easier on their wallets..The young birds actually learn to trap easier.

I just use coat hangers & a 1 1/4 peice of brake line for a bearing, cheap & works great. ---------- Yours in the Hobby Don Lunau

I wouldn't recommend coat hangers the birds can hang themselves and brake line can cause the birds to brake and not roll as much,,lol just jiving with you Quality good idea Lipper that looks kool..---------- Ralph

I was in a hurry and forgot the measurement I needed for the opening. If you noticed I had to cut the two end T's to make it fit.

Not to hijack your thread or anything Mike but here is a pic of my traps. I built them outta coat hanger and then like some sort of guage wire. Forget what size it was..
I later then cut out some tubing and slide them inbetween the spaces so the peices hanging down wouldn't slide around...
Some day soon im going to put up some clear Plexiglass from the outside that will keep the traps closed so nothing can get in. At the moment I just stand a peice of plywood up that blocks it.

Here is a picture that I stole from Mark W., our buddy Steve made it from about $2.00 from supplies at Hobby Lobby! Wooden spools, dowel rod, and glue!
Finished product! One heck of a kitbox!
