That is the old PRC/URCA standard that was written back in the 50s or 60s. The type on the birds went way beyond what is pictured. By the time the show guys got done they were trying to pass Modenas off for rollers. Thank Goodness that fad died out!!

Correction, I should say the old standard revised to convert ounces to grams and inches to cm. Read the part about back cover. The secondaries on a flying roller do not normally cover the back completely.

This "standard originated in the UK, in the "Eyes" section check how 'colour' is spelt!
The bird in the photo is a UK Show Roller, bronze cock - I took the photograph!

Sunflower secondaries on a flying rollers should cover back completely, they are used for braking at the end of a clean roll to go back to the kit.JDA

Well Robert, I guess they copied it from you Brits then. With the exception of the metric weights and lengths, it reads pretty much the same as the show standard they published over here. Only trouble is they didn't follow the standard.

It's the same over here Joe, some of the Show Rollers get bigger and more "feathery" every year.

JDD,The birds dont need back cover feathers or tail feathers to stop spinning. Proven fact.

Jay I agree i have taken all of the tail feather off of some blacks to tell who was what in teams and they did well in stopping without a tail..
