Very nice birds J.T :) especially that top one. I think the top and bottom one may be almost identical when they are older. :)

To rollingline33. In order to make white bars you first need an Opal. Opal is not an original Birmingham Roller color but has been worked with for quite some time so there are some good Opals out there. My original Opal came from John Jones and produced some very nice spinners. Unfortunately misfortune caused me to lose that Opal line. The Opal I currently have is from Randy Gibson and produces very nice spinners. What you do is take the Opal and mate it to the cleanest powder blue bar that you have. Blue bars with smoky in them will work but the Opal comes out dirtier looking due to the smokey modifier. The clean powder blue bars on Opal give you a nicer pure Opal color. Then you hope the babies come out with the Opal gene and the bars will show the Opal and be somewhat white. This is not easy to achieve so if you do get one that is nice I suggest stocking it unflown for your project. If you can get a Opal that is carrying dilute then the chances of the bars being whiter are much greater. It is a project that will take trial and error and patience. If you start with an Opal bar then you can mate it to a clean blue bar and all the babies will be bars and increase the chances of getting an Opal bar. Or you can mate the Opal bar to a clean blue check as well as part of your project. This gives you a few options to start with using a blue bar or blue check on you Opal. The idea is to take the best spinner in these patterns and add in the Opal. These color projects are a lot of work and frustration but very fun and satisfying if you finally get the color you want and the nice spin with it. One other thing: never mate Opal to Opal as they say it can carry a lethal gene that causes blindness and deformities. I haven't tried myself. Hope this helps and good luck if you try the Opal project. Sincerely, Don M Mac's Rollers

Opal is one of my favorite factors. I did not know that there was opal in the John Jones line I have many John Jones birds here very fine pigeons.

I have some baldhead opals that are nice 20-30' spinners very nice looking and spin to boot.

The white bar looks very clean. I don't see any of the sort of bronze color that Opal bars often show. Also looks like a very clean Opal color, though bird is still quite young. Looks like you may have an very nice white bar! Hope it does well in the air! Don M.

To SpinningDemon. My Opal that was from John Jones was purchased at Pensom Memorial Show in the late 90's. I call my John Jones blood, I only have a few, Old John Jones because the they all came directly from John in the late 90's. Enjoy his birds and the colors that they can throw!
