I just pulled this cock from my A-team. He is out of a my Pure Mort Red Mottle Cock and Mealy Badge Half Ruby/Half Mort Hen...so he is 3/4 Mort and 1/4 Ruby. He was 20-40' fast and tight...very smooth roll...and is a very powerful bird....very stable.....would not roll one time when flying low.....he is 1 year old right on the nose....I am putting him on a pure mort 05 Blue Check Hen....then next year I will put him on a pure Ruby Hen.....

Juan you are right...the combination is nails...It took alot of work getting to what I wanted..I had to sell off some damn good breeders to go into the direction that is working for me or what I want to see in a pigeon.

I am circling the wagons around some select pairs and there offspring....The cool thing is that I can keep bouncing back and forth going back to each side....it seems to keep everything spiced up.....I am on third generation of the crosses and I just keep putting the 3/4 and 1/2 to each side take the best....go back to a pure on each side or back to another half or another 3/4...I go back and forth usually back to a grand parent or aunt and uncle......and I like the look that I am getting and they are starting to keep the Ruby body and the Mort power...all in one....I am totally happy and I am having fun...

Keeping the gene pool close but not to close really keeps the fresh......I feel I can go on for quite awhile without hitting a wall....because when I get to close to walking the edge of locking in bad traits...I just go to the other side of the strain and back to a pure bird....I only have a handful of the original breeders...this year will be the first year that just about everything will be Flashover Strain.....

I think I only have one more breeder cock that I have to get rid of ......then My focus will be on what is left.....this Breeder cock I am going to dump is an awesome bird...but my focus is on my Blue Bar, Black and Mottle side of the Mort Strain....The cock is a grizzle that I am going to sell in the near future...
