As told by Carl Hardesty...8 birds made up his breeding stock: 4611 Less Woods, 7784, 651 "shooting star", T221, 615, 337, 1547 mesimore cock and 746...Carl is no longer into the hobby...I fly Hardesty birds and over the past several years Carl has been kind enough to loan me some of his breeders...I have not placed my cocks and hens together yet but I have 8 pairs picked out and out of the 16 birds 15 are desendents down from the "shooting star"...I have a picture of EO840 NBRC '00 Ash Red Cock grandson of the "shooting star" I would post, but I do not known how to post pictures...hope this answers your question...

Hardesty birds came off of shooting star for the most part. Tony Roberts bred the shooting star, but it is off some pure stuff that was never crossed from my understanding. Turner had some pure birds that he cept seperate from his "project". But that was years ago, and the shooting star was off that pure strain.... Just what I heard..

Jim,
Don't think you will get a response from Mayo as I believe he was booted some time back. He is one of those Turner antagonists who persist in spreading that BS about Mr Turner and crossing ice pigeons with rollers.

The shooting star hen was bred by Tony Roberts. She was bred from 5012 that belonged to Don Simpson that was a son of the old almond cock. The hen was the orangeberg hen from Paul Porter. The shooting star hen was purchased by Carl out of the air from Tony.Thats the story I was told anyway. In the short and sweet of it though there is no relation of the shooting star or old almond cock in the Turner family.

I just asked Tony to post my most recent article about Don Simpson and his Old Almond Cock line of rollers in the reading room. The shooting star is mentioned in the article. She is basically off the oriignal Pensom and Loyd Thomson birds that Don Simpson used to create his family. The article is also going to be published in the next NBRC Bulletin. Ty has it pretty much correct.

Joe i didn't think i would get a responce. Joe you are the very few that even respond to my posts and i thank you for it Joe. Joe with all the entries from kansas you think maybe we should try and get a Kansas state club going? Kansas has never had a state club> Joe you and I could maybe get something going. Let me know what you think. Your friend Jim Bowen
