I,m new to site. My name is Glen,I,m a Canadian from Toronto,Ontario. I raced homers in the 70,s and 80,s, also had a loft of rollers. My rollers all looked the same, they were blue bar with a white head and a black spot on top of their head. The old guy I got them from told me they were Birmingham black capped rollers.I flew these birds for my own enjoyment and was amazed at the acrobatics that they would perform.I have no birds at present, but have never lost interest in them.I would like to thank Tony for providing a great place to learn about these incredible birds.

Thanks for the welcome, I have no pictures. Been out of the sport since 1984, after marrying and into a apartment. I had 3 pairs of rollers which I used for fosters for my racers, they were great parents.

Absolutely getting back in, just waiting to retire. I would not be able to give it my all at the moment. I will be renewing my memberships with the C.P.F.A and C.R.P.U. soon. I beleive its good to join the national clubs just in case there are any problem neighbors.

Hi Glen & welcome. This is a great site, been in the hobby for 20 years & am learning alot here.
I too am from the Toronto area. Belong to the TFRC-Toronto Flying Roller Club, we have around 40 members.
Who did you get black topped rollers from. I have a few old friends in the club who might have known of him.

Thanks quality its good to know theres a roller club here. I can,t recall the old guys name that I got the rollers from just answered a ad that I saw at arlingtons pet shop in North York. Like I said I have to wait for more time or the only thing that will be rolling around here will be my wifes eyes and possibly my head.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Quality that is the Arlington pet shop I used to get my feed from. the guys name was Jim,he used to have a speech impediment, really good guy. I know his dad,the grandfather, was a big time homer flyer. They used to have 2 welsh springer spaniels in the store. Thats how I got into birds, only wanted 1 to train my english springer spaniel bird dog. I,m still living in the Keele st and 401 area. I,m presently taking night school courses, finished the home electrical and now taking carpentry, then start the plumbing course next October. When I build my loft I want right from day one. Is there any zoning by-laws in regards to pigeons that I should be aware of in Toronto? Thanks.

Glen contact Jay Lucarelli, he is at Jane & Wilson. He is the secratary of the "TFRC", he will know of any bylaws. It's usually ok if you are affiliated to a club.
Jays # 416-247-8009, my birds are from Jay.

Thanks Quality for all the information,Jay is 5 minutes from me.It really is a small World.I will call him. I would imagine the fanciers in this area are getting ready to pair their birds up for mating,I always put mine together on Valentines Day. Is there competition flying in this club and are we included in the World comps.

We have not had a competion fly in a couple of years. Other than the World Fly.
I am going to do something about this, this year at our club meeting in March.I used to do the World Fly, but someone else does it now. So I am going to start the club flys again.
Most of us don't start breeding until March. I myself March/15. I spent most of this weekend confirming my match ups & I'm already for March/15.
If it were not for Jay we would not have the quality rollers in this region. He taught me alot. Tell him I say hello when you are talking to him.
