Leave it in all the time unless you are medicating them.

I used to give it to them every now and then. But once I got a seperate feeder they get it 24/7.
Are you talking breeders or flyers tho??

I leave it in 24/7 in breeders and kits. You can give breeders 1/2 pellets and 1/2 grain. Then they don't need grit. They will feed the babys really good too. Brian

Milan,
Grit acts just like your teeth.
You use your teeth to chew your food, grit is the same use for your birds.
Besides it has minerals and vitimins added, which help suppliment the birds diet.

My advice to you is; don't leave it 24/7 for them. They will eat it like there is no tomorrow to quench their hunger and will screw you up when it comes to flying. Just give them some after you feed them and before taking the feed trays out. You can also mix some pellets in their feed to substitute for grits which also will provide them with some nutrition. That is what I do.
