I have this little hen I picked up from Sal Estrada that was bred by Norm Reed. The problem is that Norm's pedigree books came up missing for the year this bird was bred. I was wondering if any one may have some old Norm Reed pedigrees so I can track this bird down. I know that HDRC was used often in his old pedigrees and this bird is in that series.Like HDRC 97 311,327,328,338 and 338.Then there's HDRC 97 516 and 517. I was thinking that someone may have a copy of Norm's Records and may be able to help me out.
Thanks in Advance SWARM

nice bird..does the color matter on their performance??..like some people says blacks and red are the best rollers...is it true or is it based on the bird background and bloodline... ---------- 530flyer

530 flyer,
People will tell you that color doesn't but I think it matters in your family of birds. If you keep good notes and records you will begin to see patterns in your family of birds.Lik some colors may spin harder then others, some colors may be more frequent the others and so on.People say that color doesn't matter but there's a big name flyer that does real well that doesn't really use blue bars.I'm sure he has his reasons for not using blue bar. Then on the other hand there was a big name flyer who did really well that only hard color birds.Blue bar,Red bar,Blue check and Red check. Some would say that his should be as frequent because they are hard color but that's not true.I think you have to find what works for you and your family of birds.

Katcher,
Your right about her social security. If I can get it that's great but if I can't it's not a big deal. It's just a tool to help you see what went on in her past and to see how to map out her future. I bred her last year and plan to bred her again this year. I really didn't get a chance to see her young come in due to the BOP's.I look at the pedigrees as tools, just like we would a map.Would we strike out and head some place you never been without a map? We may but it sure can be a helpful tool and you may still reach the place you were headed without one but you but you may get lost along your way.It may also take you longer to get there. She's 12 years old now but still producing, so I'm trying to get the most out of her.

Mr. b.j,
The gold band is mine. I use to have some bands made up that said " owned by with my name and number". If I purchase a bird that didn't have a loft band and the leg was small enough to put one on, I would. If the bird some how got out I may have a chance of getting the bird back.I haven't purchased any birds in a while so it's no need for that any more. Thanks for trying to help

cr250,
I know Steve and we talk on a regular basis. I also have birds from him so I have the same birds on my pedigrees. I talked to Norm on Saturday and he said that his record book for a couple of years had been taken by someone.I thought I would give it a shot that someone my have a copy of a pedigree with the info I need on it.

530flyer,
I have been getting some good ones in all the colors. The blacks, blues and some real nice torts/grizzles these colors have kind of stood out. The reds, blue bar are not far behind. It's really hard to say.
