Last year by this time I had lost 26 Birds to the Air Sharks. I have been flying My Birds all Winter with only 3 attacks. All misses. I've talked to several Guys in the area and almost all report the same. I wonder if Mother Nature is taking care of buisness and making things a little more even? I don't know what's goin' on, but is sure is nice flying My Kits without all the losses. What's the BOP problem been like in other areas?

I had 3 BOP over the last 4 weeks & now they've gone. The Bald Eagles are now coming in but haven't been bothering me, they'll nest & be gone by May. The hawks have moved on.

Chuck, funny you should mention that. Here in Ohio myself and a couple of my buddies pretty much flew clear skies up till Thanksgiving, normally we start having trouble in september and it turns into to a blood bath in November if you don't lock down.

Hey Chuck, have you noticed alot of Great Horned Owls this year, that might be your saving grace. The owl is the only natural predator to hawks and falcons.

Vegas is worse then it's ever been. They are coming in earlier in the Fall and staying later in to the Summer. Still not as bad as some areas, but we can count on getting hit at least every other fly. Maybe the hard winters have driven the birds to milder climates. Very frustrating but no BOP will drive me out of the hobby I love.
Sincerely,Don M. Mac's Rollers

Some of you guys are lucky! It gets bad here in L A area. I locked my birds down but once in a while I let my birds out and sure enough here comes the shark and snagged a few some times one after another but hawk season is almost over. but we have a few that stick around a little longer. All we can do is wait till they start leaving so we can start flying again.

The Coopers moved in early here in NE Oklahoma. They were picking our birds off quick. Lost 6 in one day (some may have been overfly as well, but I know where they eventually ended up!). Then the day after Christmas (We had locked down for the hawk losses) three dogs got into the main loft and killed over half the birds! If it isn't the BOP it is something else! I can say that since we have locked down I haven't seen the BOP around...maybe they went to better feeding grounds...lol!

TimP,
Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I hear Owls every night. The only BOP's I've had on a regular basis in past are the Coopers. I hope the Owls eat all of them suckers.
Scott,
The last one I had come in was a very small Male Cooper. He looked real skinny, ruffled feathers, and was limping on one leg. POOR thing, Heh, Heh.
Scrimpscrampi,
Sorry to hear about Your losses. Breed numbers.

You know, normally we have no Coops here this time of year due to nothing to eat, but I'm not hearing the Great Horned Owls this year yet either, but might be a tad early, they seem to migrate in.

Chuck,
I 've had almost 3 months with no sign of Mr. Cooper. He was here in Sep-Oct and then moved on. I know he'll be back in another month or so.
