here is my question. what is the purpose of banding the birds i know some do it to keep male and female apart. i only have 2 birds so i have not done it yet i know are both males. and i here some have loft name or numbers please clarify thanks kevin

I band my birds to identify them what parents they came from so I can know who is producing the goods and what year they were born to keep track of the age.. I use to put bands on males on their right foot and female on their left but there were times I was wrong so I just band for the reasons above and when I'm sure of the sex I put a red snap on band on the female and a blue or green on males the ones Tony sells here.. ---------- Ralph

miss opportunity are the curse of potential well if opportunity is not knocking you build the door...
The reason that we band birds in th UK is bcause if they are not banded you can not fly them in compatishion. And even if you dont fly in comp its still a good idea to be a ring member so if you do ever want to fly in comp youre birds can be used. I hate to see A roller without a ring on its leg, It makes the bird look bear. And also remember every ring is registerd to who got what numbers. ( Say for instance 5240- 5290) that will mean that them 50 rings are registerd to my name and people can track the birds back to me. Thats why we use rings in the uk.
