To date, Utah, the most likely venue, has declined and nobody else in the mountain time zone has volunteered to host it. If they do not, it will be opened up to any city in the country who wants to do so. Cliff

I would like to go to a nbrc convention I have not been to one since 96 I was hoping that it would come to Utah but we felt that time was not on our side and want to put on a killer convention so we will do one in the future.
California, what do you say? I to would love to meet some of you Cali guys. ---------- David Curneal www.freewebs.com/dcurneal www.saltcreekcustomstone.com

Man....I think California would be great....I will shoot an email to the NCRC guys and see....Sacramento area would be AOK....I have never been apart of a convention..or hosted one but I would be up for asking...Sacramento is right in the middle of everything...We have some bay area fliers...Mike Wolden....Ramsey Alj@(#....however you spell his last name...Scott Campbell...David Vang...then you have us sacramento boys.....I am up for it and will help where I can...We are only 1.25 hrs from San Francisco....get some site seeing in....and about 1.5 hours from Tahoe...anyway...if someone could email me private on what it takes to run it....Does the NBRC front the bill and we just set up the flies etc....I am game and will ask the NCRC members or officers I should say...

That's a great ideal to have 2009 NBRC convention in California.

As of this date, nobody in the Mountain time zone has stepped up. I believe that Jay is entertaining bids from all comers at this point. Time is short. Let's hear it for Sacremento!! Cliff (Thanks for the bump, Tim!)

Cliff,
I put a word out to the boys...so far it looks like we may take this on...can you call me at home on Tuesday or my cell...I think you have both....I need to know exactly how the logistics work.....Sac would be pretty good...major airport close...lost of convention prices due to being the capital....and all the fliers are real close to each other..so get a call to me so we can see about commiting to this....

Sacramento would be very good. I know the guys down south in LA can make it as well. It is less than a days drive. You could probably gets some good rates from hotels in the area; especially now. Got Old Town Sacramento to visit; San Fransico; Tahoe. Boat rides available in all places. It has been awhile sense I visited my brother, Dave Vang. Hell, I may fly out and stay with Scott. ---------- Just My Take On Things

I'll call you Tuesday, Paul. Bascially, you just need to send an e-mail to Jay requesting it in writing. I'd be intersted in coming out early to fly a few extra kits with guys who do not get a spot to fly during the convention. Keep that in mind too, Paul. I suspect there will be others who would like to do this, as well. In addition, kep in mind that for the past two years, I have sponsored a hospitality suite as a gathering place for the attendees before and after the day's events. It has been a huge success with lots of comraderie and reunions taking place. Hopefully, you guys can work it in as part of your budget. But if you need me to sponsor it again, I am happy to do so. In Texas, a bunch of us went out early, rented a van and visited some guys who didn't fly in the convention flys. I would like to make that happen again also, but maybe it won't be necessary if you guys are all centrally located. But there is only so much time in a day at the convention itself..... Cliff

I am waiting for some email from some of the movers and shakers in the Sac area....to see how much help we will get from everyone....I think this would be great...Scott C called me last night and gave it the thumbs up...I know that there will be questions from some on how it all works and how to pay for everything etc.....

Paul and Cliff,
Nothing against the Sacramento region, you guys definitely have a good group and I would be there with bells on, but why isn't this being put out there for other areas to consider? The Sacramento area just had the convention in 2002. This is the only site that I have heard about the convention problem on.
The Southern California clubs should be contacted and maybe nudged to put the convention on. Think of all the top flyers in that area, and how they are all close together for travel to different kits.
Paul, if you guys end up putting the convention on, feel free to contact me with any questions, as I ran the very successful 2003 convention in New York.
Just a thought, Dave Szabatura

Thank you Paul for taking the lead on this convention. Cliff, Dave and Joe Dan (from Texas) will be able to give great advice on how to pull something successful. And I assure you that it will be a great event. However, remember that the economy is not so great and don’t take a big bite when it comes to dealing with the hotel for reservation.
Cliff, count me on to be with you guys this time around like we did in Texas.

I talked wih NBRC President, Jay Yandle, today and he informed me that Sacremento,CA has requested and should receive permissiion to host the 2009 NBRC Convention. It will be official as soon as it is approved by the EC, which should be no problem. Congratulations guys! I know you guys will do a gret job! I'm looking forward to this one! Cliff
