Hey Guys,

How many rounds per year do you breed? And what percentage of those birds breed are good? Just wondering....

Rod.
Gee thats more of a mathmatical word problem.... lol
Heres one for you. If blue bar is rolling 12 rps and blue check is rolling 10 fps... What did Ralph eat for breakfast?

In answer to your ?... I run 4 pair til I get enough birds with 2 fosters each. The percentages run differently with weather and pairings. Proabably 10-12 percent right now.

Topnotch,
Could you give us a description of how you run the bull system?
I don't currently have a cock that I would bet an entire breeding season on, but a good description is something that I would put in my archive file!

The Bull system and the Polygamy system are the same thing. You breed your best cock bird to 3-4 hens and foster all of the eggs. I was looking for some advice from someone who has been successful using the system. What kind of breeder box/system, How many hens to cock ratio work best etc. Any tricks that he could share with us.

Rod,
To get back to your original question….

I get 3-4 rounds if I am not fostering, and 5-6 rounds if I am fostering.

My percentage of "good" birds sucks. I am making slow progress on that front, I do not have anything that I would call Pre-potent.

Thanks for the info guys. I've heard of that bull system or polygamous breeding. I think timing is very important because you need to have foster parents who are at the same time incubating eggs as well.
