We all do have mutation just like in dogs but cross breeding a lab with poodle to get the (what do they call it?) lapadoodle would take some time to get it back to a pure lab again right.

Also God told Noah to take 7 of the foul of the air and 7 birds in the ark after their kind. So it has taken 7000 years from the flood of Noahs day to our day to develop all those 400 breeds. That is how much time it took for selective breeding to get those 400 breeds. It will be 7000 years to date in 2011.

But for those who wish to believe it took millions of year, well now you have your work cut out for you.

I had been told that Darwin changed his mind before he died? But I do not hold it against anyone who belives in evolution. That is up to them. But if you want to say the birmingham roller is still nothing more than a mutation then we need to examine how long it came into play and performance and that only proves the point that they should not cross anything into the birmingham roller. But I respect those who believe the theory of evolution and hope they respect the theory of creation from a scientific point of view. So Lunatic I would not use unless we were talking about Osama Bin Ladon or Hitler ect. Not the color crossers.Bill C

Yes the first tumbler was a mutation that caused the bird to do a flip. But it took dedicated folks to fine tune and develop the variety to the spinners we enjoy today. So through their dedication and study of how the roll gene works has given us the roller pigeons of today.

Bill, there are many in the scientific community I would refer to as lunatics. There are many Evolutionists who claim that Darwin accepting Creation before he died as being a fabrication. Creation and Evolution are two very distinct and very different paths..Evolutionists do all they can to discredit God - Creationists give all credit to God.. I believe that through, knowledge, nutrition, medicine etc. man has evolved to some extent both physically and mentally. There is a reason the missig link cannot be found... There is not one!

The tricky part is a bird that handle it physicly and mentally

If any of you know what a mourning dove will do to draw predators away from their nest you'll find that they flop around like a parlor roller. Maybe the roll is a gene that the birds used as a defence in the past.

And why is that ? could it be due to a mentaly weaker bird with lesser control ?
