If it is an old bird it could be her last egg. Just so many in the egg sack. Young birds can do that with there first egg and lay a normal egg next.

some times the first egg of the year will be small or odd shaped, sometimes infertle, that is why alot of breeders will throw the first eggs away or they have alot of single squabs in the nest.

I have had a couple of eggs like this over the years. One contained no yolk and therefore not viable. Perhaps her body formed the egg on schedule with hormones etc but wasnt prepared with all of the components. None of the tiny eggs I've had have hatched. ---------- Jon

II, i'm haven't been in this hobby long but i had 2 pairs of ruby rollers that laid the same size eggs and got tiny babies out of them but they grow up normal 1 thing i noticed is that the parent are small in sizes compared to my turners little smaller. i been breeding them for 1 years now and still the same size eggs
