milan rollers, before we treat the birds lets figure out what is wrong with them. I just bumped a good disease and medication chart that Nick Siders posted. Look at it and see if anything fits. You really don't want to throw antibiotics at birds until you can figure out what they need, and if you use antibiotics make sure you follow it with a good probiotic to restore the healthy gut bacteria ---------- Keep em Spinning Joe

You want to try and stay clear of starting a hospital. After you have spent all the money on meds. look around your loft and see how many birds You kept that You brought back to health.

I'll go with the natural route. First if the bird is a stock bird or a flier and can't take the box and gets weak. I'm one to see who are the strong ones. I'll been in the sport for a long time early 80's and I don't give them nothing, grit and water and that it. And the best one allways come to the top.

I'm with 0221 on this one. Separate the sickly birds from the rest & don't create a hospital. I do the probiotics (yogurt or acidophiles)a touch of iodine in the drinking water & if they perk up I fly them until I'm certain they're out of the woods. Sadly, a bird can get too far gone before you realize that there is a problem. You just might have a cull on your hands then. ---------- http://www.freewebs.com/brudahpete/

I'm with all these guys above ,The natural way is the way to go I give ACV and Garlic then fresh water and pro vital back and forth, two days this two days that one week this..I have never had sick birds knock on wood. now Garlic I love ... The principle active agent of Garlic is allicin, A sulphur containing compound which with its breakdown product produces the characteristics odour. the odour is related to presence of sulpher.when you crush a clove of garlic allicin is form by the action of the enzymes by a pre existence chemical known as allin. Garlic is also known to inhibit the growth or kill about two dozen bacteria including (staphylococcus and salmonella) and 60 types of fungi and yeast . Allicin seen to be the main chemical responsible for this..and also has 1 percent activity of penicillin..the trace mineral selenium and germanium are tho constituents of Japanese garlic are active in antioxidant, substance that protect the cells and tissues from damaging effect of peroxide in the body. it also helps build a natural immune system and last they have good activity as an anti-cancer agent.. so Garlic is good for our birds as it is for us..I just crush one clove put in the quart bottle of water I use to give water to my birds for about three days, everyday changing the water but leaving the same clove in sometimes one week.....man they get nice fresh feathers and healthy pink skin under their neck I even give it to my dog.....peace.. ---------- Ralph
