Cliff was nice enough to send me a Jay Starley hen to help me with this family. Here are some pics of her. Jay also included 3 young birds from her. She is the one with out any white. All her babies have white.
Also is a picture of My Jay Starley Cock that I will be breeding her to this year.
Thank You Very Much Cliff Ball
I am excited to see what the young can do and get some young from her.

Utah
Thanks also to Tony for this site. With out this place to talk to other guys, I would not have these 4 birds or the others I got from Brian Midduagh. Or all the help I am getting to figure these birds out.
Thanks Tony and Joni

That's what I thought so the birds went from Utah to N.C. back to Utah, long journey!

I'm glad that they arrived safely, Randy. Tim, she was raised and donated by Jay Yandle off of a pair of birds that Joe Bob Stuka got from Jay Starley a couple years ago. She's a heckuva good spinner; 30-35 ft. with better than average speed. I trained her and flew her in the NBRC Convention Futurity kit and Scott, Randy Gibson, and Brent Martindale picked her as one of the top two best in the kit. I was impressed enough that I bought her in the Convention auction. She is larger than I like to see in a roller and she threw it....all her young were pretty big birds by my standards, so I decided not to stock her any longer. You ought to be able to get that size down through in-breeding. I think one of those young birds that I sent you is a cock and rolling 20 ft. in the kit. The other two are young (August Sept hatches)and just starting to roll. Best of luck with them! I have one more pair that I am breeding for the sake of comparison of performance with my birds. Stay in touch this time next year!

I remember that bird , it was hard to get a read on any bird in that kit due to not wanting to lift in that Heat.
As for the size, she is more of a med. size bird ,only large if you are used to small birds, personaly I like a med. to med small bird.
These type of birds would also have a hard time showing potential if mangaged the same as a hot family that takes a much richer feed.

Scott

PS I like that Dun if the motor is there.

Very nice birds I am glad they made it to you and wish you the best with them. The birds that I got from Bertie are on eggs should get some young real soon. I lost most of the ones Bertie raised a bit to hot. The falcon got a few but there is one black check that is really smoking it.

Thanks for the comments. AS for the Dun, I hope he has it. Hwe was pulled from Mont Bones World Cup kit last year. He gave him and hen to me. I flew him a few times and he looked real good, but I was really new.

Thanks David. I am glad they made it also. I am real excited to get them. I just got a Tort Cock bird from Bob Adams today to on my other Starley hen. I should have some good birds byu the end of the year with my bands on them.
Good luck with the Hoyle birds from Bertie. I still have the three. I am putting the extra hen on a mottle turner Cock bird. We will see what that does.

Flew those three young Starley birds three times now. They are behaving like young birds. Tail sitting, flipping some. They have rolled for a about 5-10 feet a few times. The one with the most white has some speed. They need to kit a little tighter, I am sure that will come as I fly them.
They are looking good

Thanks for the Offer Donny, But I am focusing on these Starley's and My Billings stuff. I am going to take the advice that goes around not to mix the gene pools, Keep your families tight. At least till I am a master breeder or something.
I have a Turner line that I use as foster, I have an almond hen thier that I will play with. If I have the genitics right, any males on her should be Almond, I did not get a single one last year. I found that funny. Only let her raise 2 rounds, she was a foster the other times.
Thanks again for the offer.

Rt, I have one of the birds from Bertie doing 40' spins it is a red broch marked cock. He stays with the kit pretty good to returns after each spin. I am going to pair it with its black check sibling.

Update, Got two babies going to the kit box off this hen next week. I hope they are good. I could use some depth with the cock I have on her. He is freguent, and some of his offspring from last year are doing real well. But I think only one may exceed 25 feet. the others are around 15-20.
It would be nice to get a few 35 footers.
I just placed her next round under fosters. One more round and then I will out he on the tort cock bird I am borrowing.
The Tort bird has two nice looking Tort offspring and should have eggs again soon.

Keep me posted, RT. That hen could sure crank that kind of depth with speed, and at least one of her youngsters had the same goods. (he's MIA). I had her on an unproven cock from Joe Bob Stuka. I hope your cock on her will produce a click pair for you!

Should also let you know that one of the young birds you sent is really impressing me. He close to once a minute, good speed and style.
The other two are good birds but do not stand out like him.

Well, one for three isn't bad! I'll take those odds any day! LOL! There were a few others, one in my '08 A-kit that are MIA. I hate those...probably BOP. The point is that it looks like the hen will produce for you. Get her on the right cock and you'll be off to the races!!

An update
First my son wanted his own birds so I gave him the good son off the hen. He was once a minute, no crashes, and 35 feet or so. He looked good in the air. My son also got my Hoyle pair. That gave him two Cocks and a hen. He really likes grizzles so I asked Guil Rand for a hen for him. And thus he has his own family. To hard to say, Stuka, Hoyle, Rand,Ball and Starley. lol
As for the hen, I have 10 babies right now from her. 6 off the Dun Starley Cock, and 4 from a Grizzle cock bird that goes back to Adam Hill. Got a few Rec reds from the first pairing. They are starting to roll a little, a few going maybe 10-15 feet.
No stands out yet but they are looking good.

thaks again for the hen. I am looking forward to some good from her.

Good luck, Randy. I hope the weather for your fly turns out better than mine......I had the coldest temps of the year and 25 mph gusty winds with two hawk attacks! It's good to see that hen is producing for you! Take care.
Cliff
