Leng, you are welcome to come to the ncrc Roller event. It is in Lodi and car pool with a friend if you can. There will be many roller guys there and many Hmong guys there too. There will be a free lunch and some raffle items. Tickets are $1.00 each and you have a chance to win many prizes plus there will be some very nice birds auctioned. Some birds sell for $10 to 20 a pair and some go for $100 a pair. It just depends on the family and proven in the air or squeakers for sale.
By the way is the Hmong lanuage the same as Burmese? I was interested in that and have not seen Chor or Jesse but they will let me know at the roller show when I see them.
Definately come as many guys from Sac area will be there. This is a good place to get to know people. Bill C

I read up on Hmong people before. They like grow gardens and were farmers alot. Many loations were killed as a result of pulling out of vietnam and cambodians. I have read that Hmong were related to chinese but spoke a different lanuage and many Hmong people live in many of the Asian countrys. I had asked because I have literature in many languages but not laos. I give out literature from Family Radio which broad casts into Asia, Africa, middle east and all over with shortwave and US and other countries. I never know who I will meet on the street and places I end up. Hmong are primarily budist??? The nice thing about the USA is we can believe what ever we choose. I believe the Bible is the word of God. Thanks for the imput Pararoller. Bill C

wow you live in Wisconsin. Anywase I heard James turner was the man who put color into spin. So you probably have some nice looking birds. so far how they doing? Hopefully good. As of right now my birds are not doing so well. I don't actually know much about my birds. I got it from a friend of mine. They are a mixture some local area flyers in Marysville and Yuba City. Still figuring out the best birds to pair up so i can produce more birds. I planned on working with a solid bloodline or family of birds but it's hard to obtain good such family of birds. As a newbie i'm doing my best work on what i have, but hopefully try to obtain or purchase better birds.

There are some good birds in both those towns. I do not like the Don Penny birds for a reason but the thing is, you cannot buy good birds and be successful at rollers. You have to fly the birds out and pick your best ones and build up from there.
Most new guys think they can buy great birds and have a great kit. It doesn't work that way. You need to study each bird you plan to pick out of the air that you are flying and breed them. In the beginning you certainly can try several families and have some you like better than others but none of them will be magic rollers that make a good kit in one or two years.
This hobby takes a while to get your birds flying and takes time to find your best one in the air to breed from and years to create a good family of your own.
Starting with good birds helps a lot but there are not any families that you can just breed and get good results with. We always think someone else has better birds only to get them and then they are the same as what you have in most cases. I am going to be honest with you. If you have Penny birds you might want to get something else to work with. But many in Yuba city and Marysville have the same kind of birds and they are good birds. I have a few of them and again it takes raising 40 or 50 birds a year from 6 to 8 of your breeders to figure out what the breeders are going to thow you. good bad and ugly. Well the ugly usually are good. Seriously though, it will take you five year to get a good kit going for comp. One year for a backyard flyer to be happy. Bill C

Thanks for the advice Bill. I get what you mean. It's just that the quality of my birds aren't good enough but i know they're what have. As of right now I pick out the best of my kit birds that i have and paired them up already. I try my best to breed the good ones. Hopefully later on this year, next year or in the future i will hopefully see better birds out the birds i have now, but depends. Results may vary and i don't expect much. I just want see how other families of birds perform compare to mine. And if they have some quality that my birds don't have then i could breed them with it and see how it'll turn out. I know it takes time. I a beginer and know i'll learn more. I appreicate your suggestion. well about Don Penny's birds, i don't have any of them. Only a couple of HFRF birds and other birds that people probably consider culls. that's all got. Still new to this hobby and well definitely appreciate and learn more from more experience people like you. Thanks.
