Why do you like flying Rollers? What attracted you to the hobby? Who got you started and how long have you been doing it? Are you satisfied with the level of performance from your birds?

A kit of good birds is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. I have always like birds from my youth on. The color varieties that rollers have are fantastic. I first got involved in the pigeon hobby by capturing common pigeons off of houses and from under viaducs. An old man named "Frank" got me involved in rollers when I was less than 10. I cannot get rollers out of my system. I have moved several times in my adult life and each time I threatened to stay out of the hobby, but here I am at 60 years old getting back in it.

In the past I have had some really good rollers and I have had some trash so my flying satisfactions have had its ups and downs.

I have a great deal of fun building lofts and the re-configuring of them is fun as well. The loft is a big part of keeping birds and a lot of time should go into the planning of one.

I fly rollers for probably the same reasons most others do...sheer enjoyment. There is nothing more beautiful and exciting than sitting in my chair on a crisp morning with the A-team up and seeing the bottom fall out of the kit like God himself reached down and snapped his fingers. My entire day depends on how good my rollers fly that morning. It is a good day when I can recall the vibrations in my chest as the kit volleys towards Earth with violent rotation like a bunch of sawblades churning the sky. It is an addiction pure and simple. I got my birds from several different people in my club (CPRC). Wanted to test the waters of who had what and what worked best for me. Still fly several different families or crosses of these families. I figured by now I would be set on one to work with but they all produce roll and I have since aimed my focus on being like one of the best flyers of rollers I know. Someone who can buck the system and fly competitively birds that roll, not just a family of rollers. More of challenge and even more gratifying when it stings the pride of the doubtful who have sat in my yard and said it can't be done.

I fly rollers because I love them I had them since I was born and in till I die. My dad had rollers since he was in jr high. The performance that I have is decent and will be improving every year to come.

I fly Rollers because i enjoy the breed. The performance aspect of the birds is truly gratifying.I've had rollers now for about a year but have bred them in the past on and off.I've bred pigeons for about 20 some years now..again on and off!
These days unfortunately, are not like the days of old when you could fly your birds without care. The losses nowadays are almost unbearable, wich make for tough times, but the only other option is not flying your birds. Not much of an option in my book!!
Performance wise i'm eons away from knowing where i stand with my birds because i loose just about every bird before he makes it to adulthood. This makes it hard to move my family of birds forward.
Nevertheless i still enjoy my pigeons and there's nothing better than going outside with them and forgeting all my troubles!!

I always loved birds had commies as a kid (12) till one day riding my bike and I fell on my ass (we had a ramp that we built and were jumping over bikes LOL) I saw a kit of about 200 birds and I just saw the back of the kit start falling out! It was beautiful!! I will never forget it! From that day foward I have had rollers in my life!
