If your birds are out of the pin feather stage it is generally too late. You could try and slip them on with some vasoline but if the ankle is too big dont risk it or you could pull the birds legg out of socket .

There are some numbered bands called coil bands there are the small rings colored and the coil bands and the regular plastic and english bands.

I have a few coil numbered bands for those I miss. That way I can still record the parrents.

The number coil bands do not have the year. So you want to keep track on records the number and year. I keep 5 colors and rotate them each year. Last year I use a few that were yellow and the year before that I used blue. This year I will use red. I only use three or four a year that I miss or late hatch and run out of regular bands.

Harrison, welcome to the site I noticed you had 1 post.

Welcome Harrison, see if this will help you>
After you download you pictures into photobucket, put you arrow on the picture and left click. You should get a large image of your picture to appear. At the top, you should get a heading saying "resize". Left click on it and choose your picture size, I use the 3rd one, 320x240 left click on it and your picture will resize. Then to the bottom and right of your picture, you will have four images to choose from. Choose the third one down, should be the HTML image. Left click on it and it should hi-light in blue, hit control and c at the same time and it will copy.
Now go to the RPDC forum and in your message box where you want to post your picture, left click then push control and v at the same time and it should paste. Click on the "post message" box and you should get a picture.

Hint; if you write a message before or after you paste your image, make sure you space down a couple of lines so you picture doesn't cover your message!

save this from a friend Val...good luck..

I band my birds when they are 10 days old with Aluminum bands from are club. My personal bands are a little bigger and I can put them as late as 2 month old with no problem.

Order the plastic bands so you can try them out. If your birds are still in the nest they should be no older than 3 weeks old. You should not have any problems getting them on them.

The aluminum bands will be hard to put so don't buy those for now. You can talk to Tony if he sale plastic bands and how fast he can send them to you.

I have some NBRC bands that I can send you if you need them fast. Just send me a private email with your address. Not sure if they are 09 - 08.

I just check and they are 2008.

I forgot to even mention. The coil bands unfold in an L or line and you put the birds foot over the stretched out band in a line and slowly let go and it goes back to the round band and wraps around the foot. I'm not sure if Tony sell them. Jedds has them. Tony sells bands also that go on the young birds though. Bill C

Heck every year I band some with the last years band. I just record it,say banded 2009 with 08 band. I prefer the corect year, But you have to use whats on hand sometimes! IPB bands from foys, or NBRC bands will fit all most a full grow roller.I use olive oil.I like Tonys bands but you have to band earlly.I can have Tony's bands read for example TAPP -09- 001 to 024. That reminds me Tony I have to order some 09 bands from ya!!!!--------
