Question on borrow a bird from a friend or someone you know but not close. What would you tell the own of the bird? One cut the band and show it 2 the own or take a picture of the bird. What will you do if this happen to you?

Man up and tell him that unfortunately the bird died and you apologize that it happened (particularly if it was an important bird). If it died because you forgot to feed and water or some other reason that was clearly your fault, you might want to go beyond just an apology. If the person is your friend he will understand. He has every right to be upset, but these things happen.

I call the fellow and tell him his bird died, you have to be honest, and its best to be upfront and open about it. If there isnt enough trust that you have to prove it ... you really shouldnt have been loaning/borrowing to begin with. You might also offer to pay something for it too. ---------- Jon

You should call your friend and tell him right away. How long did you have the bird. Did it die from a disease or some other way? You should just apologise. If he has 10 pair he probalby gave you the 9th down the list? He would never give his best pair that is for sure.
ANYONE getting in a pair like this or new birds should quarentine them for three weeks just to make sure they do not get sick or make your birds ill. Many guys have gotten PMV and lost half their birds this way. Live and learn. You both learned something hopefully. You said he is not a close friend or it would be easier to tell him, but he should understand this happens in life. To say I am sorry would be good enough for me! But I would not pass birds around either. BIll C

Before you tell the guy the bird is dead, ask him how much it would cost to take the bird off his hands. Pay him more than he asks. Then tell him its dead! lol

You have no choice, but to tell the truth. Ask your friend if he/she wants some compensation. And be prepared to pay for it.
