Tony,
I do not disagree that it will inprove the site. There is alot of things said and discussed here that don't support the hobby.

Tony,
I have no real problems with your policies. It is your site and that entitles you to make the rules. What I do have a problem with is selective enforcement.

Hey Joe, I understand what you mean. We recently added a staff person to the office and once they have been trained to process orders and do paper work, the next step is to have her start moderating the board and applying the posting policy to everyone equally as she doesn't know who is who and will show no preferences.

So I see much improvement coming as time goes on. Thanks for the feedback. :-)

Well see guys, here's the problem, I can only get 200 pages of threads to display on this system, each page has 25 threads, that's 5 thousand topics. I checked the last page and it goes back to December 2007. That means year 2004, 2005, 2006 and 11 months of 2007 are essentially lost behind all the posts for the last year unless I do something about it.

As the threads of questionable value are removed, it allows other threads stacked behind them to come into view. Some might even be lost at this point, I don't know yet. A few of you new guys who haven't been around long and are probably not aware of the many great discussions that are basically lost behind this wall.

As for pictures, I would encourage good ones that tell an interesting story. Otherwise, they are subject to deletion in order to save premium space.

Hey The Game, it isn't server space (pictures are hosted on photobucket)that is the constraint , it is the 200 viewable page limit that has been exceeded. This causes older topics to fall behind the wall which then are no longer viewable.

I am just trying to free up this limited space to make more room for the older threads.

Harrison, let me make this CLEAR to you. This site and generating revenue from it IS my business. If I plastered every page with Ruby Rollers, I can, but I don't. If this site did not meet its goals, you would not have a discussion board to make such an uninformed comment.

You are being rude to the host and acting like a troll. (They don't last long here buddy) Get your p's and q's in order and act right.

...Harrison, I like the way you stepped up and explained yourself without digging. Okay, welcome back to the fold. lol BTW, I like cheeky, but the wit required is often in short supply.

As for posting, it can be difficult to get the true gist of our meaning through words when none of us are accomplished writers. But you have shown yourself worthy by correcting perceived slights and that DOES buy you equity with me and many others. Thanks!

You got to understand the man needs space .the site can only hold so much data ..now if all the people that want pics and don't like these rules lets all help out Tony with cash and he can make it the way we want..we will be paying for more bandwith and the more bandwith the more pics it can hold but for now I'm satisfy with what ever I get since its free...

Hey Jep1104, I can understand where you are coming from. Maybe I can place the pics I remove from the board into a photo gallery or slide show or something.

But as for the posting policy, there's got to be rules for every community in order to function otherwise it tends toward anarchy (like some of the pigeon mail lists, they have moments of brilliance but mostly not) I just keep in mind that while you leave, two more will be glad for the rule changes and come back.

By the way, the library has some great books with no words and allot of pictures, I know some preschoolers who can recommend a title or two. LOL Just kidding, I couldn't resist. :-)

I'm with you "T"! I was a moderator long enough that I think I see what your up to! I sure don't see why everyone is panicing, cracks me up!

A lot of these threads and pics could disappear after a couple of weeks and most would never know the difference if you didn't tell them!JMO

I spent a lot of nightshifts last summer deleting off- topic threads only, and no-one even noticed. Got rid of hundreds and didn't even make a dent! There is a lot of chit chat and unrelated threads that could go and make room for the meat and potatoes! JMO

People jumping ship and assuming the worst before they see one new rule go in effect! Get real! It might not be that bad!

A lot of you people need to pick up the phone and call Tony and get to really know him, hes a hell of a guy!

JMO!

People seem to forget the time and effort it takes to put a site like this together, monitor posts, and put up with all the other issues involved. Tony deserves to benefit from his efforts and have control of his site and also be able to advertize his products and birds. There is nothing in the rules that is unreasonable. No one if forced to abide, they can stop using the site if their opinion is against the rules. Find a better and more monitored site to post- Good Luck! These rule changes will weed out the bad and let us all enjoy the sharing of knowledge for our love of rollers, instead of have to read so much garbage in between to find any knowledge worth sharing. Thanks Tony for your efforts on this site. The best things in life are free, but they always still seem to come at a price! Sincerely, Don M. Mac's Rollers LVRC
